How to install HJG aircraft to FSX

HJG aircraft were intended for FS9 but will work well in FSX.
They can be a tad tricky to install but it's not difficult once you get used to the procedure.

Step one. First you need to download & install the Base Pack. This is the aircraft without textures.

I'm using the Boeing 707-138B (Early) for this example. Paste the folder named HJG Boeing 707-138B_early v7 into your
FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes directory

Step two is to download & install a texture. I'm using the Pacific Western 1969 livery for this example.

Paste the folder named texture.707-138B_Pacific_Western_Airlines_cf-pwv_1969 from the downloaded file into the main folder of your 707. This is how it should look

Step 3. An Aircraft.cfg file for FSX is included. Before continuing you should delete the file named Aircraft.cfg before renaming aircraft_fsx.cfg to aircraft.cfg
Make sure the file name is correct. (The case is not important.)

Step 4. The chosen texture can now be added to the aircraft.cfg file as a new variation.

Open the file named add to aircraft.txt in Notepad & copy the complete text.

Now open the 707 aircraft.cfg in Notepad & paste the text into it like this

Change the [fltsim.XX] entry to the next number in sequence. As this is the first variation of this aircraft the number will be [fltsim.0]

Exit Notepad saving changes when prompted. The aircraft & texture are now installed & should be listed on the FSX Free Flight aircraft selection menu.

Note: There is no thumbnail image at this stage. This can be added later if you wish to keep the aircraft.

Note that it uses the Boeing 747 panel & there is no sound. The sound is aliased to the FS9 default B737-400. In FSX this is the later B737-800.

The correct panel & sound files can be downloaded from the HJG website & installed later.

A quick fix so you can check the aircraft out would be to edit the Sound.cfg file like this:

[fltsim]
alias=B737_800\sound
