13 March 2002 U.S. Modern Weapons Kit for CFS2 Version 1.0 by Kotaro Akikawa Included are many weapons that are currently in the U.S. Weapons arsenal. There are also a few obsolete weapons included that were common to several aircraft. This kit is an attempt to come up with a universal CFS2 development package that can be installed once and used repeatedly on multiple aircraft instead of adding more BGL files of the same weapons over and over again. Then, if aircraft-specific weapons, pylons or fuel tanks are required, they can be included with an aircraft in BGL form. I have tried to include as many common weapons as possible, but due to limits in the CFS2 engine, I have not modeled any of the following types of weapons in this first release. 1. Retarded Bombs (Snakeyes, Ballutes, Durandals etc) 2. Pop-out wings (JSOW, JSSAM) While many Modern Guided Missiles and Bombs are included, CFS2 does not permit us to have any guidance. You will still have to drop/fire them dumb. Many Cluster Bomb Units and unique weapons are included. We currently cannot make effect files for them, but that is a top priority for us. If you think you can help us with making effect files for these weapons, please contact us. I plan on using these weapons as a standard. As time permits, I hope that the weapons kits will expand to three: 1. US Modern. 2. Russian Modern. 3. European Modern. It may expand even those, depending on the nature of the aircraft produced in the flightsim world. Installation Instructions 1. Extract the contents of this Zip file to a temporary folder. 2. Using Windows Explorer, move the contents of the OBJECTS_DP folder to your CFS2/OBJECTS_DP folder. There are 127 files to be moved. 3. Look at the file structure in the SCENEDB folder and the folders contained therein. The contents of those folders need to be moved to the exact same folders inside CFS2. In case you get lost, follow these directions: A. There is one file marked USMODERNWEAPONS.BGL in SCENEDB/WEAPONS/SCENERY folder. B. There are 73 .BMP files in the SCENEDB/WEAPONS/TEXTURE folder. WOW!!! 4. Using Wordpad, open mdlnames.txt from this zip file and copy the contents to the mdlnames.txt file inside CFS2. It's located near the bottom of the main CFS2 file list. Save that file. 5. Hopefully, that should be all. Enjoy!! I am willing to help work through problems that may be encountered when installing these weapons. However, the answer to most problems can be found under the FAQ section of my website. Please go there before dropping me an e-mail. 99% of the "problem" e-mails are from people that did not go there first. Thanks. Also, we subscribe to forums. They are a great way to ask questions and solve them in front of a group so that we can all learn from each other. (Most of the time we don't laugh at stupid questions!! LoL) I suggest any of the following forum sites: netwings.org simviation.com or combatfs.com . Kotaro has his own forum on simviation.com!!! I use railrunner130 on all and Kotaro uses Bonzonie on all. LEGAL STUFF. No warranties are implied. Use at your own risk. I don't think it will mess anything up, but sometimes you just never know. I think it was Martin Wright that stated, "This is beerwhere. Send me beer and you can put it wherever you want." Just don't sell the doggon thing!!!! Many, many, many thanks go to Kotaro Akikawa. He researched out this project and built the weapons. USAGE POLICY: If you use these weapons, Please do NOT include these weapons in your individual aircraft Zip files and instead provide a link to where this Weapons Pack can be downloaded from. I do not want to have massive confusion when updating my weapons. Please do not upload this file anywhere. Again, for the sake of simple updating. This file will be available only at the "Hot Cargo Pad" or "The WireFrame" only. Enjoy! If you wish to distribute, please send either of us a simple mail of your intentions. The weapons use different textures for each variant so editing one will not affect others. These are all very low-resolution so Bomb-Graffiti will not show properly. This is one thing I wish to improve in the future. If you wish to have any aircraft specific weapons (Pylons, Bomb-racks, Gun Pods etc), Please contact Bonzonie for the equipment you need modeled and for what, along with some information. As long as you send in some information and give us some time, we'll try to build them to the best of our skill. Please do NOT ask us to build weapons for your own personal use only. I will only build weapons if you are planning to release your files for the general public to use.
