description=The CV-580 made its airline debut with Frontier Airlines in July 1964. It was a Pacific Airmotive conversion of the CV340 or CV440 with very powerful Allison 501 turboprop engines as used in the Lockheed L.188 Electra. The substantial additional power required an enlarged tail to provide adequate engine out handling, but there was no increase in Mach limits. Maximum weight increased to 54,600lbs and airline conversions typically had high density seating for 58 passengers. Additional fuel tankage (total 2,880 US gallons) became optional in long range VIP transport versions certificated at 58,140lbs, but maximum landing weight was 52,000lbs for all. texture by Gustavo La Cruz
