DC8 "SHIP ONE 1958" SOUNDPACK WITHOUT REVERSE THRUST: THIS IS A HIGH QUALITY REPRESENTATION OF THE P&W JT3 TURBOJET ENGINES WHICH POWERED DOUGLAS DC8 "SHIP ONE" AT THE TIME OF ITS INAUGURAL FLIGHT OF MAY 30TH 1958. IT IS INTENDED TO BE USED WITH DEE WALDRON's SUPERB HJG DC8 "SHIP ONE 1958" MODEL FOR FS2004 AND FEATURES DC8 SPECIFIC COCKPIT AMBIANCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SOUND. THIS SOUNDPACK DOES NOT FEATURE REVERSE THRUST. DC8 "SHIP ONE" WAS NOT EQUIPPED WITH ENGINE THRUST REVERSERS AT THE TIME OF ITS FIRST FLIGHT. THIS SOUNDPACK IS COMPLETLY COMPATIBLE WITH FS2002 ALSO. SOUND COMPILATION BY MIKE HAMBLY & MARK CRANSTON. INSTALLATION This folder contains a single subfolder named "SOUND". Simply delete the current sound folder inside any FS aircraft and replace it with this new one. Select "YES" or "YES TO ALL" in response to any installation prompts. RECOMMENDATIONS The following recommendation is not essential but will promote correct sound playback for extension/retraction of flaps. Open your DC8 AIRCRAFT.CFG file. Scroll down through all the data and locate the entry entitled [Flaps.0]. Inside this section identify the line "extending-time=". Only if neccessary change the numerical value after the = sign to read "50". The new altered line will then read "extending-time=50". This is intended to slow down flap extention/retraction times to allow full and correct playback of the associated flap sound. If the above line in your DC8 AIRCRAFT.CFG already reads "50" then do not change anything. In that case kindly disregard this recommendation and enjoy flying your DC8. ALSO :- The following recommendation is not essential but will promote correctly cancelling availability of reverse thrust with DC8 "SHIP ONE 1958". PLEASE NOTE THAT REVERSE THRUST SOUNDS HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THIS SOUNDPACK ANYWAY. Inside your AIRCRAFT.CFG file for "DC8 SHIP ONE 1959" only. Scroll down through all the data and locate the entry entitled [TurbineEngineData]. Inside this section identify the line "reverser_available=" Change the numerical value after the = sign to read "0". The new altered line will then read "reverser_available=0". This is intended to ensure reverse thrust is no longer availablle. THIS ADJUSTMENT APPLIES TO "DC8 SHIP ONE 1958" ONLY. DO NOT APPLY THIS ALTERATION TO ANY OTHER HJG DC8's. SOUND RECOMMENDATIONS For best overall audio quality set your FS sound sliders as follows :- "ENGINES" 60-65 % "ENVIRONMENT" 80-85% PLEASE NOTE: For best audio quality a dedicated sound card is recommended. Audio quality will vary between systems and devices. Sound settings are a matter of personal preference.
