Dreamwings Design Dash8 Q100 Canadian North NC (C-GRGO) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 ACOF Author: Jeffrey S. Bryner email: jeffreybryner@hotmail.com ---------- Background ---------- I looked around for quite some time for the Dash-8-100 in the Canadian North livery (non-AI) but did not find one. So, I decided to repaint it in the excellent Dreamwings model. The Canadian North livery is very striking and colorful. It looks absolutely magic on the "baby Dash." I could only find a few photos of this airframe, and one of those was a failed landing showing passengers and crew frantically evacuating the aircraft. That said, I repainted this with a goal of having a realistic and detailed end product. I hope this repaint does not fail in either of those aspects. I hope you enjoy flying this wonderful aircraft as much as I did creating it. To that end, the fuselage and engine textures in this repaint are 32-bit. If you would rather all DXT format, send me an email and I will send you the DXT3 textures. -------------------------- Installation Instructions: -------------------------- Prerequisites: As this is a "textures only" package, you must have the wonderful Dreamwings Dash8 Q100 model installed. You can download it by following this link: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=68663 or search for filename dreamwings__dash__8__q100.zip on AVSIM. Also, although I am not sure if this site is still maintained, you can visit Dreamwings Design website at http://www.dreamwingsdesign.com. Once you have installed the model (or if you already have it installed), extract the contents of this zip file into the folder that contains your Dreamwings Dash 8 Q100. Remember to use the "Use Folder Names" option. The extraction will create folder named texture.ANX_C-GRGO. It will also create a file named fltsim.ANX_C-GRGO.txt. That file contains the entries that must be added to your Aircraft.cfg file following the last entry. Simply change the 'X' in the [fltsim.X] header to the next sequential number in your aircraft.cfg file. For example, if the last entry is [fltsim.1] then change the 'X' to 2. There are 3 entries corresponding to the regular model, the Pushback model and the Light model. Start FS9 and look for the aircraft under the Manufacturer DeHavilland, the variation Canadian North NC 'C-GRGO' and the type any of; 'Dash 8 Q100', 'Dash 8 Q100 Pushback' or 'Dash 8 Q100 Light'. ------------ PLEASE NOTE: ------------ If this is the first time you have installed the Dreamwings Dash8 Q100 aircraft, make sure you get the fix for the "bouncing" problem. Sounds funny, but it is true. The Q100 bounces incessantly while on the ground unless you have this fix applied. The fix can be found at: http://www.fs2004.com/downloads/index.php?dlid=140 The fix can also be found on Dreamwings Q100/Q200 forum at http://dreamwingsdesign.com/forum/index.php?act=announce&f=7&id=2 ------------------------- Other Enhancements: ------------------------- I suggest that if you want an "as real as it gets" experience in your "baby Dash" download and install the following: Sounds: ------- There are a few out there, but Dreamwings links to this download at AVSIM: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=68667 Panel: ------ Quite frankly, the PAD panel is very nice. Check it out on their site at http://www.premaircraft.com/fs24dash8dld/index.html Also Antonio Bucoli rather recently released a quite realistic DASH-8 Panel. Search AVSIM for this filename: dash8pan.zip If you download Antoni's panel, be sure to get Mark McCoy 's engine engine cutout fix.
