HALO 4: YSS-1000 Sabre Starfighter

Features:
- single stage, earth to max FSX altitude ( 10 million ft )
- max speed with boost Mach 4.6 / 2666 kts (FSX max )
- Rob Barendegt's spacegauge v2.0 fully imbeded and configured
- space gauges in VC as well as windowed
- custom gauges that read upto fsx max speed and altitude
- hover at at any altitude with full vertical and lateral control
- VC and WSO virtual cockpits

---------------------
INSTALLATION:
 - unzip the archive into a temp folder
 - copy/paste the effects folder to the FSX root folder
   (it will add to the existing effects folder)
 - copy the YSS-1000 folder to FSX/simobjects/airplanes folder
 - ... read the readme files
---------------------

suggested FSX settings:
disable crashes - disable G effects - unlimited fuel

FLIGHT DYNAMICS: ================================================

  - VTOL -
VTOL is as simple as deploying flaps.
there are only 2 flaps positions; hover or none.
in hover, throttle controls vertical, stick movement control laterals and yaw
max lateral speed in hover is 60 kts
a 5 second transition between hover and cruise is coded in to give a better transition to cruise lift

 - SUBSONIC -
 you may want to deploy the spoilers while in the pattern.
it will keep you sub-sonic at full throttle and give the throttles a better response feel.
 sub-sonic is also available without spoilers but ,
throttles will be more sensitive and have a longer response time to inputs

 - STANDARD CRUISE -
 at full throttle, the Sabre will super-cruise at Mach 2.2 and is capable of high altitude flight.
 control respnses have been damped as indicated airspeed increases but,
 at higher altitudes, IAS falls off allowing the sabre to be quite manueverable at high altitudes
disabling high G crashes in FSX can make it better for you if you just dont want to manage G loads yourself.
 It takes a while to get slow without spoilers but just requires a little thinking ahead,
or just pop spoilers for a few . lands around 130 kts,
taxiing is easy and it will sit well behaved on the ramp without engine runaway or creeping when brakes are off.

 - BOOSTERS -
 !!! you will need to assign the "Concorde Re-heat " key to use boosters !!!
... there is also a BOOST gauge in the VC that engages boosters if you like
    to Drop out of boost, simply move the throttles to a new setting

the airfile has afterburners seperated from the throttles as they have been rigged to be
fuel guzzling, launch boosters - at sea-level, at full burner, you have about 90 seconds of fuel available
fuel burn rates are much better , the higher you go.
Booster enables the Sabre to reach and keep FSX max speed Mach 4.6 / 2666 kts as well as punch upto and above 250,000 ft
250,000 feet is where the space gauge automatically takes over flight dynamics.

 - SPACEFLIGHT -
 once above the preset space altitude (250.000 ft ) the space gauge automatically kicks in.
flight controls and dynamics are managed by the gauge and it's presets

- an auto wing leveler is activated when the wings are within 3 degrees of level
- speed is set by throttle position 0=0 / full=2666 kts , acceleration/deceleration takes time
- hover mode is the same as in the atmosphere
- landing on space scenery will engage hover mode, but can be disengaged if you wish upon landing
- parking brakes when set will lock position and set 0 speed ( think docking clamps with the space station
- descending below 250k disengages the space gauge and restores normal FSX flight dynamics

Using the Spacegauge:
~~~ reading the rcbsa.txt readme will give you a full understanding of how the gauge works and presets are modified  ---
gauge files are in the panel/rcb_spaceflight folder
the gauge is already configured for you and is pretty much grab and go if you want to just get started.
A Special thanks to Rob Barendregt without his gauge, spaceflight in fsx would not be possible
