This is an update and correction for FSX of the de Havilland Sea Vixen by Brian Douglas. I have fixed the tail hook position so it works, and strengthened the landing gear a bit, so it takes a harder carrier landing. I also added a carrier practice flight. What follows is what I had done before. I have made the panel background simpler and replaced most of the gauges because they would not work in FSX. I also added a hud to the panel.rb which is now the only panel. The navy panel would have needed at least as much work as the civilian panel, with no real benefit to anyone. I have updated the flight dynamics and added smoke effects. I also repainted the red bull textures to red and blue textures as I hate anything red bull. There is no VC.

Unzip to a folder of your choice. Copy the aircraft folder to the main FS airplanes folder. Copy the smoke effect to the main FS effects folder. No need to overwrite anything already there.

Copy the files in the carrier practice folder to the following location: C:\Documents and settings\your name\mydocuments\Flight simulator X files. If you don't see the carrier forward and to the left, you probably don't have the setting for ships high enough.

If you have not already done so, copy the .cab files from the panel folders of the default aircraft that have them to the main FS gauges folder. For some the .cab files will be .zip files as .cab files are a type of .zip file.

I don't know why the wheel textures for the red and blue paint are all black, no hub. The Navy textures are OK. The new red and blue textures are an example of what you can have instead of some real world textures that someone has actually put on an aircraft. Be as creative as you like; after all, you are doing this for fun, right? If someone doesn't like the textures they don't have to use them.

The aircraft is now able to land on a moving carrier. It can take off from a moving carrier as well, but for some reason I could not get the launch assist to work. Everything I tried had the plane crashing as soon as it reached the bow of the ship, when using the catapult.

But all you have to do to take off is be anywhere behind the part of the deck that lifts when using the catapult, set one notch of flaps, hold the brakes, add full throttle until the aircraft wants to move, then release the brakes. Make sure the tail has passed the end of the deck before pulling up.

I am sorry for any problems I may have cause those who downloaded the first update; because I forgot to check that the tail hook worked.

[Reference Speeds]
flaps_up_stall_speed= 110.00
full_flaps_stall_speed= 90.00
cruise_speed= 500.00			//knots over the ground at 40,000 ft. (272 indicated, mach 0.87)
max_indicated_speed=730.00
max_mach=1.10
max_level_speed=mach 0.95		//at 40,000 ft. 544 knots over the ground (300 indicated)

The above is for quick reference to the flight envelope of the aircraft. The aircraft will actually do 703 knots indicated at sea level. But the fuel runs out quick at that speed and altitude.

Shift+5 will toggle the hud on or off. The other windows can be toggled with shift+2 to 4 as well as with the icons.

Anyone: You have my permission to use any of my updates with the following conditions: One, you don't try to make money with them. Two, you don't try to hurt, or take something from anyone by using them.
