This is an update for the F-16 Viper by Kirk Olsson. I rewrote the burner and flame effects so they are closer to the ones you can view on the internet. I updated the flight dynamics; changed an annoying too quick strobe light to a regular strobe; changed the panel background for the 2D panel and changed some gauges on it. I also added as many working gauges as I could to the VC. Unzip to a folder of your choice. Copy the aircraft to the main FS airplanes folder. Copy the effects to the main FS effects folder. No need to overwrite anything already there. If you have not already done so, copy the .cab files from the default aircraft panel folders that have them to the main FS gauges folder. For some the .cab files will be .zip files as .cab files are a type of .zip file. Default aircraft are the ones that came with the simulator. The hud can be changed by using shift + 2 to shift + 5. You can first turn off the 2D panel hud by using shift +3 and then using any other hud, or no hud. In the VC the hud is presently locked in position so when you move around in the VC the hud does not move; but the price for this is that you cannot change it out for a different hud. If you want to use a hud that stays on top of the background as you move around the VC, you can go into the panel.cfg file and remark out // the gauge with the first VC window. Shift + 6 to shift + 8 will give you the GPS, radios and autopilot. The 2D panel has icons to use for them if you wish. [Reference Speeds] flaps_up_stall_speed= 115.00 full_flaps_stall_speed= 95.00 cruise_speed= 630.00 //knots over the ground at 45,000 ft.(about 314 indicated) [mach 1.10] max_indicated_speed=1500.00 max_mach=2.40 max_level_speed= mach 2.0 //at 40,000 ft. The above is for quict reference to the flight envelope. I don't know the real cruise of the F-16. At a guess I would say about mach 0.95. Which is 250 knots indicated at 48,000 ft. So you can cruise at mach 0.95 at 40,000 to 50,000 ft. or you can use the above reference speeds and cruise at mach 1.10. You choose, either way the aircraft should have a range of at least 2,000 nautical miles. Anyone: You have my permission to use any of my updates with the following conditions: One, you don't try to make money with them. Two, you don't try to hurt, or take something from anyone by using them. Bob Chicilo. bchicilo@bell.net
