This is an update for FSX of the F-16 ViperDen by Kirk Olsson that was updated by Michael Pook. Over 28,000 downloads of Mr. Pook's update over the last 7 years; so I thought that you might like it if the aircraft flew a bit better. I changed the 2D panel and some of the gauges on the VC; I removed the too fast strobe lights and changed the sound to the sound that came with the Viper. I changed the burner and flame effects; and updated the flight dynamics; one part of which was to fix the cause of a built in turn. I removed the red bull paint to make the file smaller. As far as I know Mr. Pook does not claim to know about flight dynamics, so this is not intended as a put down.

Unzip to a folder of your choice. Copy the aircraft to the main FS airplanes folder. Copy the gauges and effects to the main FS gauges and effects folders. The texture in the effects folder needs to be copied to the texture folder that is in the main FS effects folder. Any gauges already there do not have to be overwritten.

If a gauge does not show on the panel that you think should be there, first check that all the gauges that come with this update have actually copied to the main FS gauges folder.

Shift + 2 to Shift 5 will toggle the hud on the 2D panel. There also is a switch below the hud which will toggle the other 3 huds and back. Shift + 9 will give you a big radar screen. It works, but I did not try to find out how versatile it is.
The regular radar screen can be toggled with the compass icon.

If you have not already done so, copy the .cab files from the default aircraft that have them to the main FS gauges folder. For some the cab files will be .zip files as cab files are a type of zip file.

[Reference Speeds]
flaps_up_stall_speed= 110.00
full_flaps_stall_speed= 95.20
cruise_speed= 630.00			//knots over the ground at 48,000 ft. (292 indicated) [mach 1.10]
max_indicated_speed=1500.00
max_mach=2.20
max_level_speed=mach 2.0		//at 40,000 ft.

The above is for quick reference to the flight envelope.

I don't know the real cruise of the F-16. At a guess I would say about mach 0.95. Which is 250 knots indicated at 48,000 ft. So you can cruise at mach 0.95 at 40,000 to 50,000 ft. or you can use the above reference speeds and cruise at mach 1.10. You choose, either way the aircraft should have a range of at least 2,000 nautical miles.

Anyone: You have my permission to use any of my updates with the following conditions: One, you don't try to make money with them. Two, you don't try to hurt, or take something from anyone by using them.
