This is an update for FSX of the Alpha UFO. I have given it a 2D panel as the panel folder it came with was empty. I have added all the wheels, and added some float points so you can land on water if you choose to. I have added some nav lights so it is a bit easier to tell which way it is going; and I have updated the flight dynamics. This is the whole aircraft. No VC. Unzip to a folder of your choice. Copy the aircraft to the main airplanes folder. [Reference Speeds] flaps_up_stall_speed=119 full_flaps_stall_speed=30 cruise_speed=1500 //knots over the ground at 48,000 ft. (695 indicated) max_indicated_speed=3000 max_mach=5 max_level_speed=2480 //knots over the ground at 70,000 ft. (675 indicated)[mach 4.33] Cruise and max level speeds were done with a 90 degree cross wind at 25 knots. Any other conditions and the speeds will vary according to the conditions. The above should let you know that this aircraft won't fly exactly like most aircraft. For me to land it without flaps, it was best to have the speed brake on and use the throttle to overcome the drag; otherwise it was very hard to keep a good approach speed. Without the speed brake on it accelerates very easy. Once on course on autopilot you can run at more than 4x time compression; but it should not usually be necessary. You can climb at more than 4x time compression, but when near the height you want, go back to 4x or less; otherwise you will have it pitching up and down when it reaches altitude. Once level at cruise height, you can use 8x or 16x time compression if you wish to. To me, flying with the flaps down, was similar to flying a helicopter. Water landings can be done with, or without flaps. Anyone: You have my permission to use any of my updates with the following conditions: One, you don't try to make money with them. Two, you don't try to hurt, or take something from anyone by using them. Bob Chicilo. bchicilo@bell.net
