This is an update for FSX of the Alphasim RF-84 Thunderflash modified by A.F.Scrub. I found a hole in the VC picture that I missed when updating the Thunderstreak and plugged it; added some gauges and changed some gauges on both panels; removed the wingman views; changed the smoke and burner effects and made them manual rather than automatic; and updated the flight dynamics. Unzip to a folder of your choice. Copy the aircraft to the main FS airplanes folder. Copy the gauges and effects to the main gauges and effects folders; no need to overwrite anything already there. [Reference Speeds] flaps_up_stall_speed=119 full_flaps_stall_speed=101 cruise_speed=484.00 //knots over the ground at 35,000 ft. (294 indicated)[mach 0.84] max_indicated_speed=700.00 max_mach=0.99 max_level_speed=352 //knots indicated at 35,000 ft. (mach 0.98) For whatever reason when I update most aircraft they have more range than they are supposed to; this one is no exception. For that reason as well as the auxiliary tanks making the aircraft over-weight, I remarked them out in the aircraft.cfg file. If you wish to make extra long flights, go into the aircraft.cfg file and remove the // from in front of those tanks. At present, the aircraft has more range without them than it is supposed to have with them attached. The tanks are toggled on or off using the tail hook keys, for me, shift + q. The burner effects are toggled on or off with a switch on the 2D panel. The switch is for taxi lights. This lets you choose whether to have them there or not. The smoke is the usual I key. The burners are what you might see if you got to look at a real jet engine that is running from a safe place and/or angle. I changed all the switches on the electrical panel to the cpt.toggles switches. I added an autopilot on the 2D panel and in a window that can be toggled from the VC. Like most jets it is best to keep the speed somewhere above 130 knots on approach, until short final; or you will be descending too fast. The reason I changed the 2D background picture is that the one that was there was not centered like the original Alphasim one is. I also left off the files that I believe are only meant for P3D users. For me the reason that I boot up a flight simulator, is the flying, not combat. WARNING: I added a [GPWS] section that stopped the voice with all the warnings about pulling up, too low, etc. If you want them back remark the section out, or change the numbers so you get what warnings you want. Anyone: You have my permission to use any of my updates with the following conditions: One, you don't try to make money with them. Two, you don't try to hurt, or take something from anyone by using them. Bob Chicilo. bchicilo@kelcom.net
