~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Queen Elizabeth Class Carriers for CFS2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~ Background ~~~~~~~~~~ The Queen Elizabeth Class Carrier is the result of the CVF (future carrier) programme for the Royal Navy. The class will be the largest vessels ever operated by the Royal Navy being considerably larger than the Invincible Class CVS which they are intended to replace, though not as large as the American Nimitz class. The carriers are being buit by BAE SYSTEMS based on a largely Thales design (originally the French Navy were planning to develop 2 nuclear carriers based on the same hull). Hms Queen Elizabeth is slated to enter service in 2017 as a helicopter carrier as the JSF is not anticipated to be operational before the early 2020s, and with the retirement of the Harrier and post-SDSR decision not to fit cats and traps, the UK has no fixed wing aircraft capable of operating from the carrier on entry to service. As the design was always intended to be 'fitted for (but not with)' cats and traps I have taken the liberty of building HMS Prince of Wales as a conventional carrier in anticipation that she may eventually be fitted in this way, either to allow more flexible operations with allied forces, attract foreign buyers if indeed she is to be sold as possibly planned, or as a response to durther delays or technical failures in the STOVL JSF programme. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Package Includes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HMS Queen Elizabeth (STOVL) and HMS Prince of Wales (CATOBAR) carriers for CFS2. Sample mission to try her out. .fsc file and texture templates (in paint shop format) for tweaking in FSDS if you wish. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Limitations ~~~~~~~~~~~ Due to the model size FSDS fails to generate a collision tree, thus unfortunately you can fly through the superstructure. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation & Use ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ship: 1. Extract the RN_Queen_Elizabeth and RN_Prince_of_Wales folders to your Combat Flight Simulator 2/Ships directory. 2. Extract CVFTest.mis to your Combat Flight Simulator 2/Missions directory. 3. Open up CFS2, go to single missions, select British. 4. Go fly (you'll start on the fantail of Prince of Wales with Queen Elizabeth alongside) FSDS source files: 1. Extract the contents of the FSC folder to a suitable location 2. Open with FSDS V3 or later (you will have to point it to the location of the texture files) 3. Tweak to your hearts content 4.
