If this document opens as one very long line, turn on "Word Wrap" in your text reading program, in the Format or Edit menu. DC3 Photo-real Modern, Re-built Panel This is the freely distributed shareware version for evaluation of the full panel package, which is available at http://www.cyberbia.us. The shareware version has a partial, transparent mask, and a limited number of functioning gauges, although all are pictured. For a comparison of features see the two documents "Full panel features.txt" and "Share panel features.txt." The shareware version also displays a tag with the website address for the complete panel package. This can be closed using the Shift+6 keys on the keyboard. The complete package can be downloaded immediately after a secure online payment through Paypal. It is not necessary to have a Paypal account if you purchase by using a major credit card. The low price of this special feature package is $6.00 (us). You will receive a transaction notice by email, but you do not have to wait and open this before downloading. Your registration key is automatically transferred to the download page. ** You must have cookies enabled in your browser settings for the transaction to work properly! ** Medium web browser security settings are recommended - the Paypal site is very secure for the transaction. Cyberbia is a verified Paypal member. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MDL If your DC3 is already set up to display inside aircraft views, follow the installation instructions for the panel and gauge folder contents. If your DC3 has not been modified, and you wish to install the additional aircraft interior views, you must also follow the installation instructions for the included MDL file which goes in the aircraft's "model" folder. Like all of the default FS9 aircraft, the DC3 was created with a virtual cockpit (see note below about virtual cockpits). Clive Ryan has created a modified MDL file for the DC3, and it is freely available on the major download sites. With his permission, and for your convenience, it is included in this freely distributed package. Clive has also created a brief tutorial on how to edit an MDL file, to switch off the display of the virtual cockpit in Flight Simulator aircraft. His tutorial is in both Microsoft doc, and PDF formats. This is only recommended for advanced users, or those who know how to edit script with a hex editor. These items are in the "CliveRyansMDL" folder. Clive writes passionately about his preference for "no vc" and refers to removing the virtual cockpit. But please don't be offended if you like, or build, virtual cockpits. I like a lot of them myself, and I have provided installation instructions for the panel that will allow you to keep the DC3 virtual cockpit if you like. The editing process does remove the "VC" from view when running the sim, but all of the coding information in the MDL file is still there. Editing it simply works like a switch to turn it off. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope you enjoy this panel as much as I do. Thanks for selecting this item, and please visit Cyberbia again, for freeware/shareware, as well as very low price payware. Happy simming! Will http://www.cyberbia.us email: will@cyberbia.us Many thanks to Clive Ryan, the many contributors to the sim site forums, and a great sim community. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The images included in this package are copyright 2004, by Will Fisher, and are intended for individual, non-commercial use. However, installing photo-real views usually requires a simulator aircraft model with no virtual cockpit (vc). This is because the simulation displays the virtual cockpit views in the normal cockpit mode, as well as in the virtual cockpit mode, and the vc views will be displayed simultaneously with any installed Photo views from the Panel folder. Unlike the panel, control of the virtual cockpit display is built within the aircraft's MDL file, located within the aircraft's Model folder. This file is the coded information for displaying the entire aircraft within the simulation. If you are using an addon aircraft with a virtual cockpit, and for your personal use, wish to have the aircraft with no virtual cockpit, it is recommended that you contact the original author of that aircraft. The original author of the aircraft can produce a version of the MDL without the virtual cockpit. The MDL file can be easily modified to 'switch off' the display of the virtual cockpit, for private individual use, by those with some knowledge of the program coding used in the MDL file, and ability to use an appropriate editing tool. Addon aircraft MDL files are the intellectual property of independent developers. Because I, and www.cyberbia.us respect intellectual property rights, and declared copyrights, modified MDL files, with the virtual cockpit display switched off, will not be included with Photo-real view packages, without special arrangements for granting of permission. It is the intention that any such files, distributed with permission, be distributed in freely availble file versions with no charge, or value exchanged. Some aircraft authors who create aircraft models with virtual cockpits, also routinely produce a "no vc" version of the same aircraft. Perhaps in the future, more aircraft modelers could routinely extend this courtesy to the many simmers who enjoy the option of photo-real views. Perhaps Microsoft could also evolve the design of aircraft models to give the individual user control of a virtual cockpit 'switch' within the simulation, or so that the normal cockpit mode and virtual cockpit mode are not tied together, enabling a choice of views between the virtual and the photo-real. If you agree with these ideas, and would like your wish to be known to aircraft designers, it is recommended that you express your support in the many simulator forums available on the world wide web.
