FS2004/FSX Seafire F.Mk46
Type History :
==============
The Supermarine Seafire F.Mk.46 was the first version of the Griffon-powered Seafire to be truly suitable for service on aircraft carriers, featuring contra-rotating propellers that solved the handling problems caused by the torque problems introduced with the Griffon.
The Seafire F Mk 46 was based on the Spitfire 22, and so had the bubble canopy and cut-down rear fuselage also seen on the Seafire XVII. It was powered by a Griffon 87 engine that drove two three-bladed contra-rotating propellers (rotating in opposite directions), in a successful attempt to cancel out the engine torque. This greatly improved the aircraft's directional stability, making it much easier to fly.
The first F.Mk.46 made its maiden flight in September 1944, and went for tests in November 1944. These were so successful that despite the lack of folding wings an order was placed for 200 aircraft, to be built at South Marston. Only 24 had been completed before the end of the war and the cancelation of the order. The aircraft that were produced didn't enter service until 1948, and were used for training and trials, before being withdrawn in 1951.

Effects
--------
-Canopy and cowl flaps open by the standard keys.
-On startup there is automatic engine smoke.
-Smoke key triggers the exhaust flames.
-Wing vortex effect appears by default at 2.5g or quick roll rate.
-Continuous blue flames with smoke if engine is running .
-War Emergency Power is controlled by the WEP.gau (Tick + or 0)
-Wing cannon with flash, smoke and falling cartridges can be triggered with the standard Strobe key (O).
It is much nicer however if you put the FS2004/FSX standard Strobe key (O) to the trigger from your joystick. You can change this in the Key menu.

Installation:
==============
-Unzip " Seafire F.Mk46" into a temporary file and move the "Seafire F.Mk46" folder into the main Aircraft directory.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
-Read instructions carefully when installing the gauges , say YES...when asked if the gauges sources should be trusted. If you say no....most of the gauges are not going to work !
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
-Leave all gauges in the Seafire F.Mk46 panel folder.
-Copy the effects into the Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\effects folder.
-Copy the fx_tracer.bmp into the Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\effects\texture folder.
-Add the 20can.wav in your Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\sound folder.
ATTENTION :
-For FS2004, change the FS9_Wing_Guns.fx  into FX_Wing_Guns.fx
-For FSX change the FSX_Wing_Guns.fx into FX_Wing_Guns.fx

Flying the model
================
This plane is a fair, non critical but very powerful flying machine.
-War Emergency Power is available.Tick 0 off, 1 on.
TAKE-OFF :just apply throttle...no real torque problems with this one.
1.Parking brake on, start engine, 1/4 flaps.
2.Disengage parking brake.
3.Hold enough rudder, brake to keep the aircraft straight
4.Take off at about 100 Knots, wheels and flaps up at 130 Knots.
5.To fire guns activate O-key or trigger.
6.Approach at 25% flaps, wheels down at 120 Knots, you may need som up trim and a burst of power.
7.Touchdown at 85-90 Knots.
Like with the real plane, some use of elevator trim will be needed.
