FSX/P3Dv3,v4,v5 Seafire MK XVII
The Supermarine Seafire, or Sea Spitfire (the official name), was a naval development of the Spitfire, and was the first modern carrier based fighter fielded by the Royal Navy. Primarily developed for carrier use, the Seafire incorporated changes such as a tail hook, attachments for catapult use, and on later variants, folding wings. The Seafire was not the ideal carrier fighter and especially landings were difficult; but its performance outweighed the disadvantages. The Seafire had a short range, but its fast climb and agility made it a very good Fleet defence fighter. The last Seafire version Mk 47 was used in the Korean war, and retired in 1952.
The Seafire F Mk XVII was a modified Mk XV; the most important change was the reinforced main undercarriage which used longer oleos and a lower rebound ratio. This went some way towards taming the deck behaviour of the Mk XV, reduced the propensity of the propeller tips "pecking" the deck during an arrested landing and the softer oleos stopped the aircraft from occasionally bouncing over the arrestor wires and into the crash barrier. Most production XVIIs had the cut down rear fuselage and teardrop canopy . The windscreen was modified to a rounded section, with narrow quarter windows, rather than the flat windscreen used on Spitfires and an extra 33 gallon fuel tank fitted in the rear fuselage. The wings were reinforced, with a stronger mainspar necessitated by the new undercarriage, and they were able to carry heavier underwing loads than previous Seafire variants. 232 of this variant were built by Westland and Cunliffe-Owen .

Effects:
--------
-On startup there is automatic engine smoke.
-Then follow the exhaust flames with smoke.
-Continuous blue flames with smoke if engine is running .
-You have WAR emergency power with the WEP gauge.
-Wing vortex effect appears by default at 2.5g or quick roll rate .
-At 20,000ft condensation trails appear.
-Gun effects triggered by the smoke key. On actvating smoke, guns will fire or stop.
-Cockpit and cowl flaps open by standard key and wingdoor opens with spoiler key.
IMPORTANT: The engine can size if you don't respect the conditions as seen in the engine failure.docx. To avoid this effect, exclude "failures" in your aircraft settings. The Griffon turns to the left, seen from the cockpit, so the torque pushes aircraft to the right. Use left rudder and open engine slowly.

Installation:
==============
-Unzip "Seafire_MkXVII" into a temporary file and move the "Seafire_MkXVII" folder into the main Aircraft directory.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
-Read instructions carefully when installing the gauges , say YES...when asked if the gauges sources should be trusted. If you say no....most of the gauges are not going to work !
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
-Leave all gauges in the panel map or paste them into your flightsim gauges.
-Copy the effects into the Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator \effects folder.
-Copy the fx_tracer.bmp into the Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator \effects\texture folder.
-Add the 20can.wav in your Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator \sound folder.

Flying the model
================
This plane is a fair, non critical but very powerful flying machine.
TAKE-OFF :if you have manual rudder enabled, be ready to apply LEFT (Griffon turns anti-clockwise) rudder and brake when you hit the throttle !
Better apply throttle proportionaly and slowly at first.
1.Parking brake on, start engine, 1/4 flaps
2.Disengage parking brake
3.Hold enough LEFT rudder, brake to keep the aircraft straight
4.Take off at about 100 Knots, let speed build up, as the plane at first sinks back to the ground, wheels and flaps up at 130 Knots.
5.Approach at 25% flaps, wheels down at 120 Knots.
6.Touchdown at 70-80 Knots.
Like with the real plane, much use of elevator trim will be needed.
The plane works without problems in FS2004 and FSX.
