INTRODUCTION:
This aircraft is the 7th project I have made of the five types of ARX-Concepts and is a part of the third series since it is a highly modified racing version of the original ARX-3 Raptor, however this version of the ARX-3 was designed with higher performance in mind. I also got alot of feedback the day the original Raptor was released, all of which was good, but some of them had new idea's about panel changes (I still get those e-mails) and a few on paint scheme changes, I have incorporated most of those idea's as well, the most popular idea being "PAINT IT BLACK!"
Whereas the ARX-3A is a recreational 2-place sportplane, the 3R is more oriented towards racing and high performance flying. Since the original 3A already had a high speed, this version is mainly visual changes, but some parts of the airfile have been tweaked.
CHANGES:
Removal of the second pilot station (panel & seat) and the addition of two Nitrous Oxide bottles.

A slightly different planform (near the trailing edge wingtip) allowing the use of two split-type spoilers similar to those on the ARX-2 and TR-3.

A borrowed nose strut from the ARX-4 Scorpion, the orginal Raptor had the strut going directly into the tire (What was I thinking?) and was changed on the Scorpion to go around the tire and into the wheel hub. I added it to this as well.

A different prop effect similar to the rotor effect on the ARX-4.

Different textures & Logos that I decided not to use on the original Raptor are now here. The dinosaur and flames were idea's I had wanted to use the first time around but for some reason (still unclear to me!) I decided not to use them. I made a new Raptor II logo for the cabin and a new ARX-3R logo for the tail and the number 3's for the intake & tail, and applied them in conjunction with the fuselage texture from the Scorpion.

SPOILERS ADDED! That was the second most popular idea I had recieved in emails next to changing the red color to black. These spoilers have a large drag factor and should be used sparingly!  They also make for an unusual near vertical approach to landing at a very low speed (around 50kts.) as for the flare,...that takes work, but a survivable landing from a 90-degree approach can be done with a little practice on the flare by playing with changes in pitch, rpm, and throttle controls.

The plane now has a lighter gross weight since the seat & panel are out of the second station.

FLYING TIPS:
Okay,...everytime I say "no major flying tips" someone has a problem!  I thought the ARX-2 and 3 were pretty straight forward, easy flying planes, but I guess some people are more impatient than me and don't like to have a long final approach for planes with a low drag factor like the Raptor and the Tri Star. So for all of you who have a problem with high approach speed press the / key and all your speed problems will be solved!

Original ARX-3 text:
This is the third concept and the first one that I have built from pre-existing files.  I originally started work on a plane called JLT-EX-01 back in 1996.  It stands for JLT's Experiment 01 and it was first in the series.  It was a plane that came purely from my imagination and there was no outside inspiration. Basically the plane was something I had messed around with in BAO's first edition of flight shop and never really planned on finishing and certainly never planned on publishing because I had no internet connection then, and the whole "Aeroworks" thing was FAR from being created yet. This plane ended up being the third concept mainly because I figured the Glider (ARX-1) was simpler, and the Tri Star (ARX-2) was a tad slower and somewhat smaller, thus the ARX-3 just seems to fit in the third slot.  No major flying tips on this one, it's pretty straight forward and doesn't want to keep going like the ARX-2, it will slow down a bit quicker but once you drop the gear down deceleration should be acceptable for a nice landing around 65kts or so.  I call it the Raptor simply because it looks really wicked when viewed from the front and reminds me of those long nosed dinosaurs from Jurassic Park,....hehehe
