GETTING MORE OUT OF MISSIONS

Using the Wingmen commands will make missions more interesting & enjoyable, especially against ground targets.
Many people are unaware of these commands so don't use the capabilities of CFS2 to their best advantage.

Tom has written these brief notes to explain how they're used. First, the key commands.
From CFS2 HELP/Index/Wingmen/Keyboard Commands and Managing Wingmen. CFS2 printed Manual page 132-134

ATTACK

- Each time given singly this command sends two aircraft against the "mission target" (see note at end) or the designated target you have padlocked, beginning with the last two aircraft in the flight.
Using SPLIT as a prefix is not necessary to do this, but I find using it reduces the incidence of wingmen colliding and is good defensive posture in a AAA environment.

IF a wingman has already been given a target to attack, and you try to give him a second target, you will hear the "Can't comply" response.

IF you wish to cancel a previous set of ATTACK commands, use REJOIN and reissue new ATTACK commands.
SPLIT

- Each time this command is given it spreads your wingmen further vertically and horizontally. And can be given up to 7 times in succession to control the spread of your flight, each occurance causing the distance to increase..
HELP Me!

- Recalls one wingman at a time each time the command is given to attack the target with which you are engaged OR have padlocked...beginning with the nearest wingman.
If a wingman is himself engaged, you will hear the "Cannot Comply" or "Too Far Away" response, so reissuing the command calls the next guy in line.

REJOIN

- Self-explanatory...almost. One command doesn't necessarily bring everyone back to the normal formation, it actually cancels the SPLIT commands you have given one at a time in reverse order.
If you have given 4 commands to SPLIT, it takes 4 REJOINS to regain normal formation.....unless you are Warping and it's automatic.

- Command cancels all Attack commands.

FLIGHT ATTACK

- The ATTACK command given twice in quick succession without a designated target, sends all wingmen against the "mission assigned" target...i.e the target WP listed as 'Attack with XXXX'. With a designated (padlocked) target, they all go for it.

Note: The mission-assigned target (Bomb this or Rocket this WP) is usually classified by the mission-builder as MUST BE DESTROYED, and this is the source of the NEW MISSION GOAL message when you come in range of the target. It simply means that you were told to attack this target, but now you are being told that actually destroying it is a MISSION GOAL.
