G-AHPR in the colours of Maitland Drewery. Stated as Maitland
Air Charters at Biggen Hill in 1959 with an Aero 45 and a Percival
Prentice, this changed rapidly the following year when a Mr.W.E
Drewery joined, the company was renamed Maitland Drewery and
two Vikings were purchased. This aircraft operated the first
revenue flight from Gatwick to Le Bourget 12 March 1960. A year
later The Vikings were gone and Maitland Drewery continued with
three Viscounts although work could not be found and one was
stored. Things improved when two were leased to BKS. At the
end of 1961 all three Viscount were leased to Silver City but
before they could enterd service British United was formed and
the Viscount entered service with them. Maitland Drewery seem
to have just quiety dissappeard. G-AHPR went to Air Safaris

Viking 2 Tradair Textures only.
Southend based Tradair was another British Independent that
sprang up in the latter part of the 1950's and lasted for only
a few years. G-APOO was one of three ex Kings/Queens flight
aircraft to join a fleet of Vikings built up from other sources.
Given the fleet name "Mercier" it was with Tradair
from August 1958 and served until the company failed at the
end of 1962. When Tradair failed, Channel took over the operations
and the whole fleet, given them a large increase in their Viking
stock and also their first Viscount. This aircraft officially
joined Channel in March 1963 and flew with them for two seasons
until it was withdrawn in August 1964 and broken up the following
year.Requires the FSDS Viking model by Rick Piper (here):
