Ground Handling: Because of the high performance
of this aircraft and its powerful engine, it is
relatively difficult to handle on the ground.
It tends to tip over if a turn is taken a little
to fast, which can easily happen because this
plane will quickly accelerate with just a small
adjustment to the throttle. When taken slowly,
one will find this plane easy to taxi but if it
gets going to fast it can be a handful. Where
Tested: Honolulu, Hawaii (Honolulu International
Airport) Landing Characteristics & Speed on final
approach: Because of its high maneuverability
this plane can be a challenge to land. If a long
liner approach is taken with not a lot of late
course corrections, it is easy to land. Otherwise,
it can be difficult to stabilize before and after
touchdown. I found it easy to land when the speed
was approximately 190 knots or slightly slower
with flaps fully extended, any faster and it was
easy to lose control and crash.
Takeoff Characteristics & approx Speed: This
plane is very easy to takeoff. Just give it full
throttle and it will accelerate at a very fast
rate, once it reaches 120 knots, a gentle pull
on the stick and your airborne.
Notes: The CF-18 is a very fast and maneuverable
aircraft, which makes it a lot of fun to fly.
The way it handles seems consistent to the real
F-18s that I have seen fly. Therefore, I feel
that the maneuvering characteristics of this plane
are relatively accurate to the real thing.
Rating = 99% Other Remarks: One of the
best planes out there. I definitely recommend
it.
