Boeing
727-200, 'Whisperjet'. Eastern Airlines designated their
aircraft "WhisperJets" for marketing purposes - Although the
term was also applied to other aircraft in it's fleet, the term
was most often associated with the 727, both 100's & 200's.
For cost saving reasons, Eastern decided that it would remove
the white background from the livery, keeping the blues, light
and navy, in what became referred to as "the hockey stick" markings.
However, when the white painted background was removed, so was
the designation, "WhisperJet" - long before hush kits for 72's
were even considered. Designed by Jim Waters. 104K |
