Spitfire F Mk22
Spitfire F Mk22
17.19Mb (1359 downloads)
The end of the Spitfire line is found in two very similar aircraft, the Mk.22 and the Mk.24. Differences between the two were minor at best but both featured a redesigned high loading wing first found on the Mk. 21 and had enlarged rudders and fins. The rear fuselage was cut down to improve visibility. Only 278 Mk.22s were manufactured before production changed over to the Mk.24. Original by A F Scrubb

Since from the inception, the F.5 did not show the shortcomings that affected its competitors (Fiat G.50 and Macchi C.200); on the contrary, it showed a number of advantages like, for example, a better climb speed.

The Reggiane Re.2003 was a development from the Reggiane Re.2002 fighter bomber that first flew on 29 June 1941. It was designed to replace the outdated IMAM Ro.37 used at the time. Unlike the Reggiane Re.2002, it had room for a second crewman who sat behind the pilot. It was equipped with onboard camera equipment.

The Piaggio P.119 was a cantilever monoplane, constructed completely of metal, with a conventional wide undercarriage. It had a forward-mounted cockpit, with the weapons mounted just behind the three-blade propeller. Air intakes for cooling were fitted under the nose. It had advanced construction for the time, with many removable panels for internal inspection. The number of components were reduced to a minimum, and also standardized, to make construction as easy as possible. No other Italian aircraft was so advanced in these details.

New airfile, a lot more nervous and sensitive, with long range. You can fly from Dover to London and remain a lot more on station. Tricky landing characteristics because you have a very high wing load. Two Hungarian textures.
