designed by Officine Meccaniche Reggiane SA, Reggio Emilia, Italy. The
plane was largerly inspired by Seversky P-35 and saw very limited

Airforce took delivery of 60 planes between 1941 and 1943 and Hugary
purchased 70 more in 1940-1942. In Hungary, the aircraft recieved
the code-name Heja (Hawk) and saw extensive service against USSR in
1941-1943 before being relegated to flight schools. This particular

PWS.26 WWII trainer for CFS by Eric of AOL The PWS.26 was
an armed trainer that could be equiped with a machine gun that fired
through the nose, and two 12.5kg bombs. It was also one of the only
unarmed planes to down an enemy aircraft. While flying ober Poland,
a 109 pilot saw the unarmed PWS.26 and thought it to be an easy kill.
The PWS.26 made the 109 follow it into a series of tight low-level
maneuvers, the 109 tried but couldn't follow and crashed into the
            trees.. 594K

          The
new Tempest II made its appearance in October, 1944. Not reaching
operational squadrons in time for the last months of the war, it was
the final variant of the Tempest. It was far more dependable, and
both smoother and quieter than the Tempest V. 195K
