CFS2 Bereznyak-Isayev BI Rocket Fighter. The BI Prototype was the first liquid-fuel rocket jet fighter aircraft flown in the USSR. Plans for the BI were completed in early 1941, but the project was not approved until July, 1941. The first prototype was produced in only 35 days. The BI-2 made a successful 189-second powered flight on 15 May 1942. In February 1943, a BI reached a maximum speed of 675 km/h at an altitude of 2190 m. The BI was intended for mass-production but development was halted while still in testing.
