This update to the A. F. Scrub (Scrubby) RAF PRXI aircraft is intended, with approval, to make the 2D and VC panels appear more in accordance with the World War II PILOT’S NOTES PN 1565 for SPITFIRE IX, XI & XVI and indeed, to instruct on how to operate within the intent of those Notes. THIS UPDATE, AS PER THE ORIGINAL, IS NOT SUITABLE FOR P3D BEYOND V3 The update includes the 2 x 66 IPG wing tanks that were not included in the original upload. No provision is made for adding blister or drop tanks to further increase range. The Recon flight to the Ruhr Dams in 1943 is almost the limit without additional tanks being added. The project involved substitution of gauges, writing xml files to update gauges that did not function. Adding existing Lancaster gauges by Plane Design (previous approval over 13 years ago), xml help from Jeff Lind in Sydney to achieve the intent and gauges by Rob Barendregt for taxi and braking, RMcL and Jeff Lind for AWPT/Fuel, Wolfgang Piper for the analogue wind gauge plus Flight Time by P Wallaert. The original bmp for the 2D panel is worked over to remove the gun sight. For scenery viewing enthusiasts there is no better way to view your scenery as it passes under this aircraft at 30000ft. This will certainly be a new experience for all would be pilots. Refer to Page 8 of the pdf for installation details.

This is a modification of A.F. Scrub’s Supermarine Spitfire PR.XI, to give it the standard PR.XI range, done with permission, and with two sets of textures. This modification was tested in a flight from Kissimmee to the site of Chicago, Meigs Field and returning to Kissimmee without any need to land in Chicago.
The first set of textures is for PL841 as used by 681 Squadron in North Eastern India during 1945. From photographs the serial number appears to be the same colour as the centre of the roundel.
This aircraft failed to return from a PR mission to Moulmein, Burma, in June 1945. The pilot, F/Lt Thomas Woodhouse, was missing, presumed killed. I hope this texture does him justice.
The second set of textures was created showing PL965 as she was in 2023.
This aircraft has a noble history, flying over 40 operational missions over Germany with 16 Squadron during World War Two. After a period with the Royal Netherlands Air Force, she was restored by the Medway Aircraft Preservation Society and joined the Hangar 11 Collection in 2004. For much more detail about the history of this aircraft, see Hugh R. Smallwood’s book, “Spitfire in Blue”.

FSX/P3Dv4,v5 Spitfire Mk XVI:
The Mk. XVI emerged as gradual evolution from the highly-successful Mk IX, inheriting the many minor modifications introduced during its production but otherwise similar in all respects except for the engine, being the American-built Packard Merlin 266, license-built version of the Rolls-Royce Merlin 66.
The difference in service tooling between the British and American engines necessitated the introduction of the new mark, but Mk. IXs and XVIs were otherwise produced on the same productions lines, depending on the availability of the engines.
