FSX/FS2004 de Haviland DH104 Dove 6 G-ALFM Textures
1.39Mb (70 downloads)
MSN 04211 was built in 1948 for the Secretary of State for Air as G-ALFM. Transferred to the Royal Air Force in March 1949, she became VP961. From June 1953 to October 1960, she was part of the Queens Flight, and designated as Prince Philip’s personal aircraft in which he logged 128 hours. Civilianized in 1985 as G-ALFM, she had four owners before becoming G-HBBC in 1996. Still on the UK register, currently she is in store “somewhere in the United Kingdom”. Textures only for Derek Palmer’s fabulous DH Dove model which you will need, this repaint shows G-ALFM as she was in 1985, when owned by three aviation enthusiasts.

Built in 1941 for the USAF, msn 77-4176 was assigned to the Portuguese Army as 707 in March 1943. It was re-serialed 1608 in 1952, and at some stage, modified to a T-6G standard. Civilianized in January 1979, it became G-BGGR, and was then sold to an owner in Germany in April 1979, becoming D-FOBY. Nowadays it is displayed on the terminal roof terrace at Stuttgart Airport. Painted on to J.E. Narzico’s admirable T-6 model, along with Daniel Nole’s T-6 panel, this shows D-FOBY after delivery to Germany.

FSX Miles M14A Hawk Trainer 3 G-AKUA Fairey Aviation
FSX Miles M14A Hawk Trainer 3 G-AKUA Fairey Aviation
3.01Mb (120 downloads)
MSN 1021 was built in 1937 as a Miles Magister 1 for the Royal Air Force, being allocated the serial N3988. It was civilianised in 1948, becoming a M14A Hawk Trainer 3, and was registered as G-AKUA to Fairey Aviation. Sold on in 1953, it had two further owners before being destroyed in a fatal crash at Burnaston Airport in July 1957. Painted on to Edward Cook’s excellent Miles Magister model adapted for FSX, I have shown G-AKUA as it was in service with Fairey Aviation.

FSX/FS2004 N.A. P-51C Mustang N1202 “Excalibur III”
FSX/FS2004 N.A. P-51C Mustang N1202 “Excalibur III”
7.37Mb (249 downloads)
MSN 111-29080 was built in Dallas in 1944 and delivered to the USAF as 44-10947. After the war, it was sold to Paul Mantz as NX1202. Mantz converted the aircraft to a “wet” wing where the complete wing is a fuel tank. He then won the 1946 and 1947 Bendix Trophy Races, and, with different pilots in the cockpit, NX1202 came second in the 1948 Bendix race, and third in the 1949 race. Mantz then sold the aircraft to Captain Charles Blair who, on January 31, 1950, set a world record flying from New York to London in 7 hours and 48 minutes. On May 29, 1950, Captain Blair flew from Bardfoss, Norway, over the North Pole to Fairbanks, Alaska, in another world record of 10 hours 27 minutes. He then set yet another world record by flying from Fairbanks to New York in 9.5 hours. In 1952 Captain Blair was awarded the Harmon International Trophy by President Truman. N1202 was sold to Pan American World Airways in 1953, who promptly donated her to the Smithsonian Institute. Today, she is on display at the Udvar-Hazy Center in Washington DC. Painted on to A.F. Scrub’s magnificent P-51B Mustang, I have modified, with permission, the wing to give Trans-Continental and Trans-Atlantic range. Enjoy

FSX North American TB-25N Mitchell N9494Z
27.95Mb (834 downloads)
Built as a B-25J for the USAAF as 44-30925, MSN108-34200 was converted to a TB-25N at some stage in its service, before being stored at Davis-Monthan in August 1958. Sold in 1960 as N9494Z, she went through a variety of owners before appearing in “Catch 22” as “Laden Maiden”. After filming, Colonel John Stokes bought the aircraft in 1975 and restored the colour scheme as she appeared in the film. Colonel Stokes very kindly sent me several photographs of N9494Z when she wore the scheme that I have used on this model. The late John Jeff Hawke bought her in 1978 to continue her film career appearing in the documentary “Mitchells do fly in IMC”, then in “Hanover Street” as “Gorgeous George-Ann”, and finally as “Thar She Blows” in “Eye of the Needle” in 1980. Her film career over, she was stored at Blackbushe becoming derelict, until 1982 when she was dismantled and trucked to Wellesbourne Mountford in 1982 and then to Coventry in 1985, still owned by John Jeff Hawke/ Visionair International. In 1985 Aces High bought the aircraft registering her as G-BWGR and moving the hulk to North Weald. She was then sold to David Copley in 1998, moving to Sandtoft in 2001. The Brussels Air Museum Foundation bought her in 2005 and she is currently being restored to static condition. I have used the brilliant Brian Withers/Roy Chaffin/Bluebear B-26J RAF MkII and modified the TruNorthSim USA/Africa texture adding the nose art, national markings and tail markings as used by Colonel John Stokes in San Marcos, TX. There is also engine exhaust flames and smoke and, when the main exit is open, the crew leave. The only snag is that Laden Maiden never carried the cheek guns as on the model and I can't remove them.
