An FSX adaptation of Tim Conrad's sweet little X-24 Lifting Body. Built as a atmospheric test vehicle for a planed orbital version intended to be a military spaceplane lofted by a Titan launcher. A series of unmanned half scale X-24's were flown on sub-orbital and orbital test flights to validate Hypersonic and reentry performance. The design performed well, and detail design and operational doctrine for the orbital military version was well advanced when the airforce walked away from manned military capability. Mr.Conrads X-24 is a FS2002/2004 model that, with modifications, looks and works great in FSX. The panel has been re-worked using Mr.Conrads T-2 gauge cab(included). Flight model has been re worked to give HOTOL LEO capability (Nuclear gas core/H2 rocket?) A couple of new textures for hypothetical 'operational TAV-24's' included. The mighty SR.45 Princess was left without customers; long range, high performance landplanes and a plethora war-time airfields leaving the big boats high and dry. Never the less, a number of serious proposals were made for the boats. The Royal Air Force was interested in the aircraft as long range freighters. Aquila offered £1 million each for the 3 aircraft in 1954, wishing to supplant some of its war weary types on its longer routes; an offer that was rejected by SARO. A serious inquiry was made by Convair and the U.S.Navy in 1958 to purchase the boats for conversion as testbeds for a Nuclear powered logistics transport proposal, utilizing a GE-P&W closed cycle nuclear T-45 turboprop system. A final proposal in 1964 was accepted from Aero Spacelines, who wished to convert the aircraft to swingnose freighters for transporting Titan and Saturn components to Cape Canaveral. 3 reapaints for a Nuclear Testbed, Aquila Airways, Aero SpaceLines, and a rework of M.Barnes' RAF C.Mk.I repaint. Over 10 years since 12F Flotille converted to the Rafale M in 1999, the second Aeronavale unit officially began receiving their aircraft beginning in September 2011. Flotille 11F, also based at BAN Landivisiau and onboard the Charles de Gaulle carrier (R91), will gradually give up the Super Modernized Etendard (SEM) as they complete transition to the Rafale. FSX Lavochkin La-9 fighter. The Lavochkin La-9 was the most powerful of the Lavochkin piston fighters. Development of the Lavochkin La-9 began in 1945. It was a follow-through of the La-7 which was a proven fighter at the time. The La-9 had an all metall construction. The wings were slightly more cut-off at the tips instead of the more elliptical tips of the previous fighters. The new fighter, entered production in August 1946.
