This update to the A. F. Scrub (Scrubby) RAF PRXI aircraft is intended, with approval, to make the 2D and VC panels appear more in accordance with the World War II PILOT’S NOTES PN 1565 for SPITFIRE IX, XI & XVI and indeed, to instruct on how to operate within the intent of those Notes. THIS UPDATE, AS PER THE ORIGINAL, IS NOT SUITABLE FOR P3D BEYOND V3 The update includes the 2 x 66 IPG wing tanks that were not included in the original upload. No provision is made for adding blister or drop tanks to further increase range. The Recon flight to the Ruhr Dams in 1943 is almost the limit without additional tanks being added. The project involved substitution of gauges, writing xml files to update gauges that did not function. Adding existing Lancaster gauges by Plane Design (previous approval over 13 years ago), xml help from Jeff Lind in Sydney to achieve the intent and gauges by Rob Barendregt for taxi and braking, RMcL and Jeff Lind for AWPT/Fuel, Wolfgang Piper for the analogue wind gauge plus Flight Time by P Wallaert. The original bmp for the 2D panel is worked over to remove the gun sight. For scenery viewing enthusiasts there is no better way to view your scenery as it passes under this aircraft at 30000ft. This will certainly be a new experience for all would be pilots. Refer to Page 8 of the pdf for installation details.

This set of images tells the story of how to fly the SPITFIRE PR XI World War 2 style. It comments upon what is not achievable in any "simulator". I have every year since 2013 flown my "Simulation" of the 617 Squadron RAF raid on the Ruhr Dams back in 1943 and part of that was of course the Photo Recon flights starting in February 1943 and concluding the day after the end of OPERATION CHASTISE, May17 1943. I FLY using the appropriate PILOT'S NOTES as was formed in WW2. My aircraft is set to cruise at 30000 ft at a boost and rpm setting with PN fuel flow rate complying with the Pilot's Notes "55. Economical Flying" and therefore the re-enactment is as good as can be expect from any simulator. The aircraft is not just chucked in the air. IT IS FLOWN. Why not read, then try doing it with your PR XI!

MSN 04211 was built in 1948 for the Secretary of State for Air as G-ALFM. Transferred to the Royal Air Force in March 1949, she became VP961. From June 1953 to October 1960, she was part of the Queens Flight, and designated as Prince Philip’s personal aircraft in which he logged 128 hours. Civilianized in 1985 as G-ALFM, she had four owners before becoming G-HBBC in 1996. Still on the UK register, currently she is in store “somewhere in the United Kingdom”.
Textures only for Derek Palmer’s fabulous DH Dove model which you will need, this repaint shows G-ALFM as she was in 1985, when owned by three aviation enthusiasts.

Built in 1941 for the USAF, msn 77-4176 was assigned to the Portuguese Army as 707 in March 1943. It was re-serialed 1608 in 1952, and at some stage, modified to a T-6G standard. Civilianized in January 1979, it became G-BGGR, and was then sold to an owner in Germany in April 1979, becoming D-FOBY. Nowadays it is displayed on the terminal roof terrace at Stuttgart Airport.
Painted on to J.E. Narzico’s admirable T-6 model, along with Daniel Nole’s T-6 panel, this shows D-FOBY after delivery to Germany.
