5 what if textures for Tim Conrads Northrop XP-56. A fascinating aircraft, but designed just before a number of breakthroughs in aerodynamics-notably the perfection of laminar-flow airfoils. Redesigned around a larger, heavier engine that delayed the program for almost a year, hamstrung by a host of 'looks good on paper' design features, the XP-56 was a dreadful aeroplane, but made several contributions to the state of the art; notably in magnesium fabrication and heliarc welding. The second prototype survives in storage with the NASM collection at Silver Hill, Maryland. It is actually British Indian Ocean Territory and belongs to the UK but also has a US base called Camp Thunder Cove. Diego Garcia has a 12,000 ft runway which makes it an ideal destination for any kind of heavy metal. Texture resolution is 1m/pixel (LOD 15). This is a CFS2 conversion of A.F. Scrub's excellent FS 2004 Heinkel 46c. Nothing else has been done to the file other than a makeshift DP so it may be in need of a CFS2 airfile & a better DP with loadouts. Some alternate skins may be forthcoming if I can stay motivated.
