Yakovlev Yak-7b
Unit: 29 GvIAP Leningrad front, 1943
Pilot: Major A.V.Chirkov eventual 29 victories
The Yakovlev Yak-7 was developed from the earlier Yak-1 fighter. It was initially intended as a two seat type conversion trainer. As it incorporated a number of design improvements over the Yak- 1 it was soon realized that it would make a better fighter than the Yak-1. The rear seat was removed and the rear canopy was faired over. The Yak-7 proved to be a capable aircraft. The Yak-7a was put into production with more improvements: Two ShKAS on the cowling had been replaced by two 12.7 mm (0.50 in) UBS machine guns with 400 rounds (260 for the left and 160 for the right). It was powered by an M-105PA engine with an axial ShVAK cannon with 120 rounds. Oil and glycol radiators were refined, the tail wheel was made retractable; joints and skin were more carefully made; panels on engine cowling fitted better; the propeller reduction gear worked better; an electro-pneumatic reloading system was installed; canopy frame was reinforced. It entered service in My 1942.
The Klimov M-105PA was found to be slightly under-powered. In the Yak-7B, it was replaced with the M-105PF engine having an additional 130hp, making it faster and more maneuverable. Generally liked by its pilots, it was then on a par perfomance wise with the Bf109G-2 and Focke Wolf Fw190A at altitudes below 15,000 feet. The definitive single-seat variant was the Yak-7B, which was produced in large numbers - approximately 5,000.
A note on the strange green camouflage color: The giant manufacturing complex, Zavod 156 Novosibirsk, producing the Yak Fighters had been manufacturing farm equipment prior to mobilization. All the manfactured farm machinery was painted with this "tractor" green. Due to the confusion and chaos caused by the German invasion, the paint meant for tractors was the only green color available in 1941/1943. And so it was used on the Yak-1 and Yak-7 fighters.
Apparently bomb rack and rocket racks were not interchangeable in the field.
Universal armament was:
1 x 20 mm ShVAK cannon, nose-mounted
2 x UBS 12.7mm machine guns, nose-mounted

Yakovlev Yak-1 series 43 to 65
Unit: 1 GvIAP sometime in 1942
Pilot: unknown
The Yakovlev Yak-1 was the first variant of the Yak fighter aircraft family. Early production Yakovlev fighter aircraft were among the greatest piston-engine fighters created during World War II, despite often being overshadowed in media by their Western counterparts. The Yakovlev bureau created the Yak-1 in response to a Soviet government request in 1938 for a fighter made mostly of wood for ease of maintenance, repair, and, most importantly, mass production. The initial design was given the designation "I-26" after the Soviet Air Force approved its mass production. Once production began, the aircraft's designation changed to the more common "Yak-1". Some 13,947 Yak-1 aircraft were produced in 192 continuous series each incorporating improvements so as to not interrupt production rates. The first number of series had a non-sliding clear rear canopy section. This was later changed to part of the fuselage with rear quarter windows.
Starting with the 20th series, the Yak-1 aircraft were equipped with an RSI-4 transceiver radio and the tail wheel was made non-retractable.
In June 1942, the M-105PA engine on serial Yak-1 aircraft was replaced with a more powerful, but lower-altitude M-105PF, boosted from 910 to 1050 mm Hg. serially produced from June 1942 to July 1944. A total of 5,672 aircraft were produced.
Bomb racks were installed from the 5th to the 126th series and from the 148th series until the end of production, i.e. until the 192nd series of the Saratov plant No. 292. From the 127th to the 147th series (from February to June 1943), bomb racks were not installed due to work to lighten the aircraft. During the serial production of the Yak-1, only 7,509 machines with bomb racks were produced.
The Yak-1 was equipped with rocket armament was produced from the 43rd to the 65th series (from October 1941 to May 1942). It consisted of six RS-82 rockets. A total of 1,148 Yak-1s with RS-82 were built.
Apparently bomb rack and rocket racks were not interchangeable in the field.
Universal armament was:
1 x 20 mm ShVAK cannon, nose-mounted (120 rpg)
2 x 7.62 mm ShKAS machine guns, nose-mounted (150 rpg = 300 total)

Yakovlev Vak-3
Unit unknown, shot down by AA - belly landed Near warsaw, Poland 1945
Pilot unknown
The idea to produce a new fighter for the Red Army Air Force went as far back as 1941. It was then that the Yakovlev Design Bureau presented the I-30 prototype, intended as an alternative to the earlier Yak-1 design. However, the German invasion of the USSR, as well as aluminium shortages, meant that the project had to be put on hold. Yakovlev resumed the development in 1943 while working on an upgraded version of the Yak-1 fighter. This time, it was decided that a new aircraft should be produced to completely replace the Yak-1 and Yak-7 models. The wings and rear fuselage were skinned with plywood for a smooth finish. The new machine was dubbed as the Yak-3 and entered service with the Red Army Air Force in June, 1944.
The Yak-3 fighter quickly became very popular with Soviet pilots. They highly praised its ease of piloting and superb low-altitude performance. As a small. light, fast and highly-maneuverable aircraft up to 12,000 feet with limited range ( 1 hour duration) and firepower, the Yak-3 was used almost exclusively as low-altitude tactical fighter. Escort missions for bombers and ground-attack aircraft were reserved for the Yak-3’s big brother: The Yak-9D. By mid-1946 4,848 had been built.
1 x 20 mm ShVAK cannon, nose-mounted (120 rpg)
2 x 12.7 mm Berezin UB machine guns, nose-mounted (150 rpg = 300 total)

FSX/FS2004 Pilotable Three Masted Racing Schooner Atlantic
(Category: FSX > Misc)

FSX/FS2004 Pilotable racing schooner Atlantic. This huge three masted schooner with a total length of sixty nine meters was launched in New York in 1903. The vessel carried 1.720 square meter of sails and additionally it was equipped with a powerful but very heavy steam engine with 400 HP, which allowed seventeen knots. In 1905 "Atlantic" won a transatlantic race in only twelve days. It took hundred years to beat this record for single hull sailing ships. The new record was made by the high tech light weight racing yacht Mari-Cha IV. During WWI "Atlantic" served as supply vessel for submarines and during WWII as training vessel for the US coast guard. The original "Atlantic" was scrapped in 1982 whilst the new replic was launched in 2008. My model is very detailed and offers some special animations. The angle on the Z-axis can be increased in three steps by using Flaps and four configurations of sails can be set. In FSX twenty camera views provide decks- and mast views. Additionally there is an AI-version included. FSDS-model, animations and cameras by Erwin Welker.

Update2 for FSX of the FSD T-38 Talon
(Category: FSX > Military)
10.19Mb (77 downloads)
This is my second update for FSX of the FSD T-38 TALON. I just gave it a better 2D panel background. I took the picture from an L29 aircraft panel and cleaned all the clutter off it. Then I had to reposition the gauges on it. I was able to put almost all the gauges on this panel as were on the other update I just uploaded. I am leaving the 16x9 panel there and only the first aircraft has the new panel. If you want to use it for all the paints, remove anything that is after the panel= for that paint. The reason I am uploading this is because of how much easier I found to land the aircraft with this 2D panel.
