Due to such facts, LAN begin the negotiations to acquire new planes Lockheed Electra A-10, that with so much success was manufacturing the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation of the United States.
Around the beginning of 1941, were received the first three Lockheed Electra. The others three Electra arrived on 26 August, completing a fleet of six.

Propelled by two WASP JR.B of 450 HP engines, they could transport 10 passengers at 280 Km/h of cruise speed, with 04:10 hours of flight autonomy, with maximum load.
This was the first plane of LAN equipped with ADF (Automatic Direction Finder), modern and valuable help that was permitting to establish in automatic way the position of the aircraft with respect to land radio stations.
As in those years yet wasn't existing in Chile the current NDB (Non Direccional Beacon) net, the pilots were using the broadcasting radio stations to be located, using the Electra's ADF.
The last three Lockheed Electra were sold to CINTA Airlines in 1952, ending them service on LAN CHILE, and being replaced by the De Havilland Dove.
