1 COMMONEWALTH AIRCRAFT CORPORATION (CAC) P-51D MUSTANG MK. 23
INTRODUCTION The Mustang was operated in Australia immediately after
World War 2. One squadron had operated in Italy during that war, RAAF
3 Squadron. Many Australians flew Mustangs in RAF squadrons too. Post
war, Australia purchased and manufactured Mustangs to serve on the
home front, equiping front line fighter squadrons and reserve units.
This example A68-750, served in the Korean war with 77 Squadron. The
aircraft survived the war and was famous for its shark mouth. The
original aircraft files were created by Patrick Didier Repainted and
edited by Michael King. 203K
