First appearing in 1947, the AN-2's was first dismissed as obsolete, due to it's biplane layout and homely looks. But the "Annushka" would prove the naysayers wrong.... and how! The biplane layout proved itself, and there wasn't much the AN-2 couldn't do, whether as a passenger, cargo, parachuting, crop spraying, or spec ops plane. As a result of the termination of the Tornado project, the Tempest II was designed from the outset to use the Bristol Centaurus 18 cylinder radial engine . Apart from the Centaurus engine , the Tempest II prototypes were similar to early series Tempest Vs.Tempest IIs produced during the war were intended for combat against Japan, and would have formed part of a proposed British Commonwealth long-range bomber force based on Okinawa, Tiger Force. in 1944. This version has the Mitsubishi MK4T Kasei 25 1850hp Air
Cooled engine and One Type 97 13mm dorsal machine cannon, one Type
