In 1940, the Regia Aeronautica received a new addition to its bomber force, the SM.84, that was designed to replace the SM.79, but which never succeeded in equaling the performance of its illustrious predecessor. This was principally due to its lack of maneuverability, making it anything but ideal in the role of torpedo-bomber, and due to the general lack of reliability of its Piaggio P.XI engines. FS2002 Convair CV-880 Cathay Pacific V2 An updated repaint of Rey Lopez' lovely Convair 880 in Cathay Pacific livery as VR-HZA, together with a paint of VR-HFT in the earlier Cathay colours. This aircraft, designed in FSDS2, has reflective bodywork with metal underbelly, wings and engines, transparent cockpit with pilots, opening forward passenger door, two 2D cockpits (jumpseat and captain), a virtual cockpit and night lighting. Cathay Pacific operated the CV-880 between 1962 and 1974, having eight in the fleet at one time. These repaints, by kind permission of Rey Lopez, are by Mark Beaumont. FS2004 Comet C4 RAF Transport Command Textures only. 1962 The first of five Comet C4 delivered to the RAF in June 1962, XR395 is shown here in the original variation of the RAF livery featuring a highly polished finish and a silver painted fin. Comets were frequently used for Royal and other VIP flights, the last operated by XR397 was to transport the Queen Mother on an official tour of Iran in April 1975. Retired at the beginning of July 1975 this aircraft was sold to Dan Air at the end of August becomming G-BDIT and served until finally withdrawn on 19 October 1980.
