FSX ASTER_imp GDEMv2 30m mesh for South East Asia pt4
(Category: FSX > Terrain Mesh)
101.52Mb (748 downloads)
"imp" means imperfect, as other mesh I have already processed is of areas that have very little vegetation cover - over the land, or has large urban areas.
This "imp" mesh will include some slight discrepancies of altitude (in the case of forested areas - by a magnitude sometimes of +15 metres-depending on how tall the trees are, in the jungle or forest canopy) over urban areas, or areas with a lot of vegetation cover - due to the limitations of the ASTER satellites infra red scanning cameras, and the software used to process the DEM data.
Areas where there is little vegetation cover, or non urban areas, the terrain should have truer values.
But I feel this ASTER DEM data is so good - why let it all go to waste - especially flying over lovely Pacific islands?
So you FSX users out there will have to take all this into account when using this mesh.
Grateful thanks to ERSDAC, and NASA for making this data freely available to the public.

Visual Navigation for Flight Simulation: Compass, Clock and Chart Part 5
(Category: FS Navigation > Flight Simulator Navigation)
3.10Mb (748 downloads)
For use in any flight simulator. Part 5 of the tutorial for navigation in ANY real-world-based sim, using real aeronautical charts and only ground-based navaids, or none at all. It will work with any sim, because the program is not run on your computer- it's run between your ears!
Those interested in learning to navigate this way will also want to download my complete set of real US sectionals ("realvfrcharts"), converted to pdf form for use in kneeboard viewers or on a separate display.
In this part, we will plan and fly a straight-line flight with no prior wind and cloud information, other than conditions at the departure airport... but ground-based navaids will be used. In part 6, we will plan and fly a long-range flight over water, in the dark.

Spad XIII Equipped
with twin machine guns and a larger engine, the SPAD XIII was based
upon the airframe of the smaller SPAD VII. Built in large numbers,
it was fast and powerful but difficult to fly. Original model Fred
Wohosky, texture, DP profile and panel by Miguel Angel Duarte Lobo,499KB
The SPAD XIII was flown by many of the famous aces including Georges
Guynemer and Eddie Rickenbacker. Guynemer's last victory was also
the first scored by a SPAD XIII. With 18 victories, Irish ace William
Cochran-Patrick scored more victories with the SPAD VII and SPAD XIII
than any other ace. By Miguel Angel Duarte Lobo. 500K
