CFS Heinkel He 70 "Rayo" - Nationalist Air Force. The Heinkel He 70 was a German mail plane, passenger, liaison, training and bomber aircraft of the 1930s. Although useful, it had a relatively brief commercial career before it was replaced by types which could carry more passengers. As a combat aircraft, it was a not a great success because it rapidly became outdated. Nevertheless, the He 70 was a brilliant design for its day, setting no fewer than eight world speed records by the beginning of 1933. The Luftwafe commisioned a light bomber version which which was subsequently used in the Spanish Civil War. Twenty-eight aircraft were sent with the Legion Kondor, where they were used during the Spanish Civil War as fast reconnaissance and bomber aircraft. Their high speed gave them the nickname Rayo (lightning). Eleven war survivors flew until 1950 with the "Ejercito del Aire" as liasson aircrafts. This virtual model represent a He 70 of 7-G-14 based at Vitoria and Burgos as fast recce and light bomber,1937. Original FS5 model creator: Mike Hill. Panel: Default Hurricane CFS panel. Built in 1934, msn 3993 was sold to a wealthy Egyptian and registered as SU-AAN. In June 1937, it went to Prince Abbas Halim who then flew it in the “Circuit of the Oases”. When war was declared in 1939, the Long Range Desert Group bought SU-AAN for the sum of £3000, and had it resprayed by a civilian contractor, not the RAF, and it became AX697. This accounts for the photographs of AX697 that show the underside of the aircraft as being dark, not the usual Sky Blue, as on other RAF aircraft. Used by the LRDG for communications and to resupply LRDG patrols and missions, the aircraft did not survive the war. The only surviving piece of AX697 being part of the instrument panel held by the Imperial War Museum in London. Painted on to Paul Bradshaw’s excellent WACO YKC model, the repaint shows AX697 as she was in service with the Long Range Desert Group. Enjoy.

This UPDATE enhances the existing Lechfeld AB (ETSL) v2. Lechfeld Air Base is a German Air Force base located 1 km east of Lagerlechfeld in Bavaria. Klaus Jone did a magnificent job in creating this scenery for us flightsimmers. At the time - in 2005 - Klaus Jone depended heavily on the payware Lago FSE to create the emplaced buildings / objects for most of his military airbases, including Lechfeld ETSL. Nowadays, the Lago FSE program is not readily available. After looking at all the screenshots which Klaus Jone packed with this scenery, it's disappointing to install it and then NOT see all those lovely hangars, shelters and buildings. How bare and empty it appears...without Lago FSE!! Well, I have replaced the buildings / objects with similar ones that You CAN see, if you have the required libraries. This scenery was made with EZ-Scenery. No Lago FSE or other payware is required.
