Messerschmitt Bf109G-6/AS
by Design Team Daedalus
Unit: 6./JG27 Fels am Wagram, July 1944
Pilot: Uffz. Heinz Zimmermann
This aircraft was shot down on Aug.23, 1944. Uffz Zimmermann KIA
The first G-6/AS aircraft reached frontline units in early April, 1944 - III/JG, I/JG5 and II/JG11. I/JG3 received them in May and II/JG/27 got theirs in June, along with a few going to NJGr/10.
There is no "standard" Bf 109G-6/AS, as the production included conversions of basic G-6 models and different radio equipment, oil cooler types, antenna masts, etc. were available at different times during the production runs. So each model we have created has its own unique features.
Pstrany developed the models using Paul Rebuffat's Messerschmitt model - with permission - as a starting framework and updated the shape, and added a plethora of details, new parts, and ideas. Pstrany also developed the models for the drop tanks, weapons and racks.
Captain Kurt created paints for each, the 2D instrument panel, the air files and the aircraft.cfg files.
Mav SCASM edited each model so that they have animated wing slats, drop tanks, and other features, as well as optimizing models for the best possible frame rates.
We have all benefited from the assistance and guidance of others in the community. Special thanks to Wolfi and Huub Vink for their kind assistance and to all who have contributed their knowledge directly and indirectly.

Subtle METALLIC effects textures are included for the TWO "Default" liveries: Air Anglia and NLM Cityhopper. These unique repaints are a rare set which used to be hosted at GJSmith.net (now OFFline) and nowhere else.

ASTER GDEMv2 30m mesh for Mongolia & surrounding areas Pt13.
(Category: FSX > Terrain Mesh)
179.95Mb (211 downloads)
There are Fourteen (14) parts of this mesh to download as separate files.
ASTER GDEM Version 2 is a 30 metre definition DEM, its better than the version 1 data that ERSDAC, of Japan and NASA originally released, but it does have its limitations.
GDEM has been obtained from a satellite that uses stereoscopic infrared scanning cameras, this brings with it problems in the resultant data.....where it sees the tops of trees, buildings etc, as the ground terrain.
If you look at the jpg image with the terrain type errors shown as a graph, you will see that the only 'safe' terrain to use this data with - in FSX - is scrubland, or desert terrain.
Its hopeless in defining the terrain in places like Europe - with all the artificial structures, (buildings) and different types of woodland, so any mesh I create from this data won't include areas like that....it will be more desert type terrain, and scrubland.
I won't be doing Greenland because something about the ice around Greenland, (or any other land mass with ice) it creates false data.
It does give enough fine data to reveal railway lines, and some roads though.
This mesh has been made for FSX only.
Grateful thanks to ERSDAC, and NASA for making this data freely available to the public.
