The Centaurus was the final development of the Bristol Engine Company's series of sleeve valve radial aircraft engines, an 18-cylinder, two-row design that eventually delivered over 3,000 hp. First run: July 1938 Number built: c.2,500 Manufacturer: Bristol Aeroplane Company Major applications: Hawker Tempest; Bristol Brabazon; Hawker Sea Fury Sleeve valve engines were developed to get over all of the problems that were encountered on poppet valve engines! Typical examples of reliability: Civil Centaurus max TBO (Time Between Overhaul) was 3000 hrs and Civil Merlin max TBO 1000 hrs. Setting up the valve timing was intensive work though. The Tempest Trials = Test with LA602 reavealed that the aircraft suffered from engine vibrations. These were solved by mounting the engine on six shock absorbing rubber-packed mountings. These mounts prevented the installation of the Centaurus XII engine (which was originally intended to power production Tempest IIs) and the Centaurus V was chosen as the production power plant. The VC is the Alejandro Rojas Lucena/FSND fantastic revised Boeing 737-800 VC model. This VC model includes Working wipers (right mouse click on switch) with rain effect. Switches for LCD Screens, EICAS, PFD, MFT. Autobrake switch. Opening pilots window. Cabin Lights switch. Realistic FMC. Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS), More Realistic night VC textures. There are custom Boeing 737 sounds included for that extra realism. I have added the great textures by Patrick Curtis. Model is not modified in any way. FS2004-Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 ANR This model, based in Aviano in November 1944 and flown by Serg.Magg. Pilota Pietro Cusmano, belonged to the 2°Sq., 2°Gr.of the Aviazione Nazionale Repubblicana of the R.S.I., carried the emblem "Diavoli Rossi" on the fuseelage, similar to that of the 6°St. of the Regia Aeronautica. McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 Laker Airways package for FSX. Air France operated the DC-10-30 between 1992 and 1995. Laker Airways was founded by Freddie Laker and became the second long-haul, low-cost, no frills airline in 1977, operating low-fare flights between London Gatwick Airport and New York John F. Kennedy Airport (after the pioneering Icelandic airline Loftleioir). Laker flew its last flight on 5 February 1982, going bankrupt thanks to the recession at that time. Includes custom VC.
