FS2000 Civil Air Patrol L-4A Light Aircraft The L-4A series aircraft were militarized versions of one of the most famous light aircraft, the Piper J3C-65 Cub. Over 5,500 of these aircraft were ordered and built for the U.S. Army Air Forces (USAAF), U.S. Navy (USN) and U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) during World War II. During WW II, "Grasshoppers" performed a wide variety of functions throughout the world such as for artillery fire direction, pilot training, glider pilot instruction, courier service and front-line liaison. Members of the Civil Air Patrol flew thousands of hours in light planes such as the L-4A searching for enemy submarines in U.S. coastal waters. Start with a factory built Pitts S2S, add stronger wings, build a larger, more powerful motor, add an oversized, custom propeller, increase the sizes of all the control surfaces, reshape the tail, strengthen the fuselage, and re-design the fuel and oil systems and you have what Jim calls the "Bulldog" Pitts S2S. Qantas Nalanji Dreaming 747 VH-EBU. Repaint of default 747 as Nalanji Dreaming. To mark its 75th Anniversary in November 1995, Qantas unveiled the "Nalanji Dreaming" Boeing 747 - 300 (painted here as a 400 series) VH-EBU painted in a special green, blue and yellow scheme, reflecting Australia's tropical rainforests.
