FSX/P3D MD-87 Airtanker Package
FSX/P3D MD-87 Airtanker Package
FSX/P3D MD-87 Airtanker Package (Category: FSX > Civil Jets)

This aircraft modification as with the other "ScorchMod" airtanker conversions comes from a long line of development from the original aircraft. This modification is based around the freeware released SGA DC-9. Although not an MD-87, the models differ only slightly and I felt it was a great platform to do this modification to. The original was made FSX Native by Eagle Rotorcraft. The tank fairing was designed and attached in our group at Simulated Air Tanker Operations. The pack also includes sounds I've modified from Benoit Plamondon's original freeware JT8D soundset for the DC-9/MD-87 to mesh better with FSX and P3D. I have also updated external lighting on the model to reflect the MD-87s better. Model is still FSX native, but was constructed and tested in P3Dv4.5. This likely means it is also compatible in V5 of P3D as well. FSX users will have custom thumbnails. I have also included weight references for use in FireFigherX. This jet can be a challenge to fly fully loaded out of airfields with runways shorter than 5200 feet without the weight and payloads properly configured. This package includes all 7 of Erickson Aero's aircraft. FSX Native conversion by Eagle Rotorcraft. Internal VC model (DC10) by Thomas Ruth. External tank fairing designed by Jeremy Ulloa. Airtanker modification by Nicholas Mitchell.

Finding Lm3(Spider)
Finding Lm3(Spider) (Category: Space Orbiter > Orbiter Addons)
0.00Mb (913 downloads)
Recently I discovered that in March of 1969, when the lunar module ascent stage, "Spider" was released during the Apollo 9 Earth orbital mission, the ascent engine was commanded to burn to fuel depletion. This resulted in an orbit of 6,934.4 × 230.6 km. That orbit lasted until the ascent stage re-entered and burned up on 23 October 1981. Since the Space Shuttle Columbia first flew on 12 April 1981, that means that, hypothetically, the Space Shuttle could have been dispatched to rendezous (and possibly capture) Spider. These are a series of scenarios utilizing the Shuttle Fleet and AMSO. Both addons must be in the same Orbiter installation, Orbiter 2010, to work properly. The scenarios are located in the Scenario folder "Finding LM3(Spider)". There is a launch scenario on 13 October 1981 and a stationkeeping scenario on 14 October 1981. Using the RPOP MFD, a flyaround is possible. The scenarios are based upon actual orbital elements for Spider from October 1981. Spider was NORAD catalog number 03771.

Visual navigation for flight simulation: Compass, Clock and Chart Part 4 (Category: FS Navigation > Flight Simulator Navigation)
1.61Mb (913 downloads)
For use in any Flight simulator. Part 4 of the tutorial for navigation in ANY real-world-based sim, using real aeronautical charts and only ground-based navaids, or none at all. It will work with any sim, because the program is not run on your computer- it's run between your ears! Those interested in learning to navigate this way will also want to download my complete set of real US sectionals ("realvfrcharts"), converted to pdf form for use in kneeboard viewers or on a separate display. In this part, we will plan and fly a straight-line flight over mostly water, using mostly dead reckoning and no in-flight wind or cloud updates. In Part 5, we will plan and fly a straight-line flight with no prior wind and cloud information except what we find at the departure airport. FS9 is used for the tutorial, but ANY sim that references real-world charts can be used.

CFS2 USAAF, Materials and Transport Commands, Unified Mission_1_H. Land of the Rising Sun Readying for takeoff at dawn, the rising sun on the horizon reminds you of the urgency to get this plane off the ground and headed home. You are the last transport out of Henderson Field, and even as you start up your engines you know that the Japanese are only minutes away with a large bomber force. Last plane out, no one wants that job, but you were selected for your superior ability to get things done. All night long the air has been filled with aircraft and flack, strange the way the exploding flack looks somewhat like the Fourth of July, but you also hear the sound of airplanes falling from the sky. The enemy has put up an anti-aircraft flack net, and you have to go through it, worse, they won't be firing at the sound of your engines, you they'll see. How do you get through the flack? How do you manuver and evade what you can't see until the sounds of anti aircraft flack begins to explode around you? You can overcome the flack and what ever else may be out there, but you have to think ahead of the "game". Few have made all rhe way through the first time, are you up to the challange? 30.9MB
