A Bridge Too Far - Mosquitoes Over Willems Barracks In preparation for the kick-off of Operation Market Garden large numbers of bombing sorties were flown against strategic and tactical targets throughout the corridor. A general saturation bombing in the areas of Wolfheze, Oosterbeck, Nijmegen and Eindhoven by the mediums and heavies began around 0800 and lasted for three hours. In contrast your target is a very specific one, the Willems Barracks Complex just to the west of Arnhem. Because of the massive retreat of the Wehrmacht through Arnhem in the past two weeks there is a good probability that the barracks are occupied. The target is very close to civilian homes so they've called low level precision bombing capability of the Mossie's to flatten it.
