FSX/FS2004 Texture-set for VC-118 "The Independence"
(Category: FSX > Props)
10.66Mb (684 downloads)
I adapted the textures made by Maarten Brower for the JBK DC-6-model for the use on the finer (as i think) model by Greg Pepper. It shows one of the most famous Douglas-aircraft: "The Independence", named after the hometown of President Harry S. Truman. It served from 4 July 1947 on as a presidential aircraft till 1953.

Desperate Battles Revised
(Category: CFS2 > Missions & Campaigns)
12.67Mb (684 downloads)
This is meant to be an historical campaign, based on the carrier battles of the Battle of the Eastern Solomons (22-25 August 1942) and the Battle of Santa Cruz (25-27 October 1942. I named the campaign “Desperate Battles” because at this stage of the war the US Navy was fighting uphill. That is, they had fewer resources than the Japanese, in many ways inferior aircraft and less experienced pilots. In both battles, the Japanese are the attackers and the USN has to fight a defensive struggle.
The dates, times and locations of each engagement (mission) are as close as possible to the actual ones. Ship names, locations and courses as well as aircraft numbers and types are as accurate as possible. Attack angles and targets are set up to give historical results, but you, the player can change history (slightly). The campaign consists of various missions; recon, strike, defensive and land based as well as carrier based. Random chance plays a big role in the numbers of defensive aircraft and in some cases, whether or not a target will be there at all. Call signs
2
and aircraft skins however are not historical. Carrier task forces are set up to sail into a 15 knot wind on takeoff and landing. Using the alternate dps provided for the Usio ships and the FDG alternate files for US aircraft should make this campaign even more realistic and challenging.

Aerosoft Antartica x Mario Zuchelli Addon 1.1
(Category: FSX > Payware)
2.30Mb (684 downloads)
This scene has been made by me as a complement of the payware Antartica x from LimeSim/Aerosoft.
It really wont make sense without the mesh and the afacad of this scene.
It adds the installation of the Italian base of Mario Zuchelli.
Never been there so I used documentation and satellite picture to "guess it"
use some elements of fsx acceleration, but should not be a problem if you haven't it
Still should look neat once installed. (made in skechup + model convertor + instant scenario II)
v1.1
the 1.1 adds a landing pad and suppresses some reflection on the ground texture following Sascha's feedback from LimSim.

Maskrider GSL Dobodura Pack

CFS2
Maskrider GSL Dobodura Pack:
This pack contains 11 of the 14 airstrips that were located on the
grassy flatlands inland from the coastal village of Buna. Buna, located
on the north coast of Papua New Guinea proper, approximately 15 miles
NW of the provincial capital of Moro Bay, was the beginning and the
end of the Japanese push over the Owen Stanley’s, along the Kokoda
Track, to Port Moresby. At the end of the Kokoda Campaign, the flat
often swampy plains inland from Buna were quickly developed into one
of the larger airfield complexes of the war. Used both as a major
transit as well as staging area- the Dobodura complex of airfields
was the mainstay of the Allied aerial campaign against New Britain
and Rabaul. The airstrips acquired names depending upon their proximity
to villages scattered around the plains: Girua, Embi, Borio, Horanda,
Popondetta, Soputa and of course Dobodura where a pre-war airstrip,
Raways Strip, was already located. By Chris Westervelt. 1.4MB

CFS2/FS2002/FS2004
Martin Mariner PBM-3C.
The "PBM-3C", with initial rollout in late 1942 and a total
of 274 built. It featured greater crew armor protection, twin gun
front and dorsal turrets, an improved tail turret that retained a
single gun, and the ASV radar and dome, though it appears that not
all PBM-3Cs had the radar. Apparently many PBM-3Cs were fitted with
an underwing searchlight in the field. By Jim Jacobson. 6.6MB
