Alphasim FS2004/FSX Late Mk.IX textures only. It is the mid-70s and after years of absence, there is a Spitfire that is about to take to the skies in South Africa. This came about due to the acquisition and the funded restoration project led by Larry Barnett. Evelyn as she was affectionately known was named after Barnetts wife. Her first flight after restoration (and others) was undertaken by Lieutenant General R.H.D. "Bob" Rogers, the then most highly living decorated pilot of the South African Air Force, whose career started in WW2 flying clipped-wing Spitfires in Italy from 1944 on wards under the colors of 40 Squadron, the exact badge which appears on Evelyn. He then went on to serve in Korea where he flew P-51D Mustangs and F-86 Sabres. Sadly one day in 1984 while landing after her display flight at our Margate air show, the then pilot (Not Rogers) whose name is not known, applied too much breaking power causing substantial damage to Evelyn. She never flew in South Africa again and was believed to have been sold to the US. Local simmers. Textures by A. Ludick.

The Dutch airstrip of Traffic Port Venlo is a few miles WNW of Venlo. Opened in 2009, it is unusual in that it shares it's site with an Articulated -Lorry Driving School! Hence the road markings on the apron. I did it at the request of a Dutch Flight Simmer who drives past it regularly and wanted to be able to 'fly in' as well.

United Airlines textures for the FSX default DC-3 aircraft by Microsoft/Aces and modified James Eden and Jon Murchison. These textures require AWESUM4SUM.zip modification to the default FSX DC-3 Textures by Gary Harper.

"imp" means imperfect, as other mesh I have already processed is of areas that have very little vegetation cover - over the land, or has large urban areas. This "imp" mesh will include some slight discrepancies of altitude (in the case of forested areas - by a magnitude sometimes of +15 metres-depending on how tall the trees are, in the jungle or forest canopy) over urban areas, or areas with a lot of vegetation cover - due to the limitations of the ASTER satellites infra red scanning cameras, and the software used to process the DEM data. Areas where there is little vegetation cover, or non urban areas, the terrain should have truer values. But I feel this ASTER DEM data is so good - why let it all go to waste - especially flying over lovely Pacific islands? So you FSX users out there will have to take all this into account when using this mesh. Grateful thanks to ERSDAC, and NASA for making this data freely available to the public. FS2004 Version 2.0 Analog Mini Panel has been updated with many new pop-up windows to help improve visibility on the Mini Panel screen and add more functionality. This is an entirely new panel so you do not need my previous version. A pop-up Glass Cockpit panel has been added to this version.
