FS2004 Airfield Scenery - Ford-de-Havilland - FDHA
Ford-de-Havilland is a scenery pack created by the Ford
Project Team that contains a historical rendition of
the Stag Lane Aerodrome.
Stag Lane Aerodrome was the home of the first de Havilland Aircraft
Manufacturer's factories located at Stag Lane, Edgware, London, UK.
Stag Lane became the main base of The de Havilland Aircraft Company Limited
in 1920. Former wartime aircraft were refurbished in the early years, and
the company designed and built large numbers of aircraft at Stag Lane in
the 1920s and early 1930s.
Created by the Ford Project Team to support their recently
released large suite of liveries for the Milton Shupe
DH80 aircraft. This package is just one of nearly 30 other
scenery packs available for FREE at the Ford Tri-Motor site.

Honington 1944, 1st Strategic Air Depot, USAAF, Suffolk, England
(Category: FSX > Scenery)
0.13Mb (578 downloads)
Honington played host to P:38s and P:51s during 1944. Honington was an RAF station prior to the USAAF arriving in 1942, and so retained its RAF buildings as well as the C type Hangars. As well as being an active fighter base, Honington was also home of the 1st Strategic Air Depot specialising in the maintanence and salvage of the 3rd Air Divisions B:17s. Honington was initially a grass field, but to accomadate the heavy B:17s a steel planking "strip" was laid down. Crews with crippled aircraft were often instructed to "put down" at Honington to save on salvage costs. The 1st Division Air Depot is represented in this basic scenery.

HMAS MELBOURNE was one of six 'Majestic' class aircraft carriers
which were laid down in 1943, and was in fact laid as HMS Majestic
for the Royal Navy. Construction of the Majestic class was suspended
in May 1946. In 1947, the Australian government having decided to
acquire two aircraft carriers, two of the class, HMS Majestic and
HMS Terrible (later HMAS Sydney) were transferred to the Royal Australian
Navy. Work resumed on Majestic in 1949 and on 28th October, 1955
she was renamed Melbourne and commissioned in the RAN. Brian Stevenson.

Douglas A-24 Dauntless (Banshee).
The Douglas A-24 was the Army's version of the Navy SBD carrier-based
dive-bomber. The Army tentatively named the A-24, "Banshee",
but this name never seems to have really caught on. It was almost
identical to its Navy counterpart, but the Army's A-24 never achieved
the degree of success and immortality as did the SBD. Its relative
lack of success in combat led to its early withdrawal from operational
service and its relegation to training and other support roles. Textures
