Canadair CF10 Starfighter Canada's - Canadair
CF104 Starfighter - 417 Squadron (1983). Painted to honour the
closing of the OTU at Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada in 1983. The
OTU trained over 750 Starfighter pilots between 1962 and 1983.
The "417" Squadron honoured its closing with this paint scheme
in this plane's last flight in July of 1983. Repainted by Peter

C/n 19632 was delivered to the USAAF on 12th February 1944 and ferried to Europe on 9th March 1944. She served with the 29th Troop Carrier Squadron, 313th Troop Carrier Group, 9th Air Force at Folkingham, transporting some of the 3rd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment to Picauville, Normandy on the 6th June 1944, D-Day. She then did a resupply mission for the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, the following day.
Civilianised in 1946, she became OY-AUB for DDL, and then on to SAS in August 1948. Aer Lingus bought her in November 1948 and served with them as EI-AFA until late 1963. She then went to Royal Nepal Airlines as 9N-AAL staying with them until finally being withdrawn from use in 1976. Her subsequent fate is unknown.
Painted on to Manfred Jahn’s magnificent C-47 model, this repaint shows EI-AFA in the last Aer Lingus colour scheme she wore. 2d panel but no VC.
