DFW CV late production 1918 V.2
(Category: CFS2 > Aircraft)
3.97Mb (207 downloads)
The DFW. C.V was possibly the most important aircraft in the WWI German Air Force. The overriding purpose of aviation at that time was support of the ground war. This made observation and artillery spotting the primary air forces' mission and the DFW C.V equipped front line units in greater number than any other German 2 seater. It was highly successful, well liked by its crews, and was reported to have outstanding performance comparable to the F2B Bristol fighter. It served continuously from 1916 to the end in 1918. Almost 4,000 were produced, with 2005 manufactured by the parent company DFW (Deutsche Flugzeug-Werke), and under license; 1400 by Aviatik, 400 by LVG (Luftverkehrsgesellschaft), and 150 by Halberstadt (Halberstädter Flugzeugwerke). RAF Stenigot, UK
(Category: FSX > Scenery)
0.01Mb (207 downloads)
RAF Stenigot was a Second World War radar station situated at Stenigot, near Donington on Bain, Lincolnshire.
It was part of the Chain Home radar network, intended to provide long range early warning for raids from
Luftflotte V and the northern elements of Luftflotte II along the approaches to Sheffield and Nottingham and the
central midlands.
After the Second World War, the site was retained as part of the Chain Home network. In 1959 it was upgraded to a
communications relay site as part of the ACE High program, which involved adding four tropospheric scatter dishes.
The site was decommissioned in the late 1980s and was mostly demolished by 1996.
The radar tower is a Grade II listed structure and is now used by the RAF Aerial Erector School for selection
tests for possible recruits.
There is a Memorial at the top to a former RAF Aerial Erector.

Real Charts VFR Sectionals: Dallas
(Category: FS Navigation > Flight Simulator Navigation)
25.25Mb (207 downloads)
Hi-def scans of real VFR aeronautical United States charts, as available for download from the FAA, reduced and formatted in pdf form by me for use with flight sims. Display them in a kneeboard utility, print them, whatever...I like to use fragments of them to make pdfs for different flights, but that is only one way.
If you want to "get real" about navigating in the sim the way it's done in real life, these charts are for you. But you might also just enjoy wandering around, comparing the chart to the world depicted in the sim. These charts will most likely be outdated by the time you use them, or your sim may even pre-date the charts, but they should work well enough.
A basic guide for interpreting them is included, as well as tips on how to measure and mark them. Each chart also includes a handy chart legend, a map showing what region it covers, and airspace and frequency information.
If you are unfamiliar with how to use them for navigation, be sure to check out my multi-part tutorial series "Compass, Clock, and Chart", available here at simviation.com.
