Nieuport 28C.1 27th Aero Squadron USAS
Nieuport 28C.1 27th Aero Squadron USAS (Category: CFS2 > Aircraft)
8.81Mb (81 downloads)
The Nieuport 28 C.1, America’s First Fighter for CFS2 The Nieuport 28 C.1 was developed in France but was America's first fighter aircraft. It entered service in March 1918. France originally ordered it into production in 1917 only to cancel the order shortly thereafter in favor of the SPAD XIII as the standard French fighter. It was given a new lease on life when the United States Air Service (USAS) ordered 297 of them as it was available when the SPAD XIII could not be procured due to the SPAD production commitment to the French Air Force. It was intended as a stop gap fighter until enough SPAD XIII's became available. Deliveries - without guns - to the USAS 94th and 95th Aero Squadrons began in February and March 1918. By the end of March a limited number of Vickers machine guns were delivered to the 94th for combat patrols to begin. In June, the 27th and 147th Aero Squadrons were also equipped with the Nieuport 28. The Nieuport 28 in combat proved to have outstanding maneuverability and rate of climb with decent speed, but had a weakness on the upper wing where the leading edge could fail, tearing the upper wing fabric off with it when it was pulled out of a high speed dive. This led to a number of incidents in combat causing losses. Some pilots were able to limp back to base with the damage, like Waldo Heinrichs, Jimmy Meissner, and Eddie Rickenbacker, but others were not so lucky. This led to more cautious flying by the pilots and probably hindered the overall combat performance of the Squadrons. Even so, the USAS fighter squadrons turned in an acceptable record with the Nieuport for the four months they flew it in combat until SPADS became available to replace the Nieuports beginning in August, 1918. Gaston's White River Resort began 61 years ago when Al Gaston, Jim Gaston's father, purchased 20 acres of White River frontage with six small cottages and six boats...the year was 1958. Present day, Jim’s grandson - Clint Gaston - will carry on the family legacy for many years to come. The resort now covers over 400 acres, and has 79 cottages ranging in size from two double beds to ten private bedrooms. The airstrip has grown from 1,800 feet to 3,200 feet. The six boats are now over 70, and with a state of the art dock to hold them all. The years have brought an award winning restaurant, private club, gift shop, tennis court, playground, game room, duck pond, three nature trails, swimming pool, conference lodge, and fly fishing school. I added the helipad and near-by points of interest in Bull Shoals. See if you can find the sleeping dog at Gaston's. Extract and drop into X-Plane 11/Custom Scenery.

There were seven DC-8-63s in ONA's fleet over the years, some of them leased. This particular aircraft (N864F) was purchased new in 1969 and stayed with the carrier until december 1977 when it was purchased by Seaboard World. Textures are DXT5. This repaint was tested FSX-SE. It should work on FSX & P3D v1-3.

Messerschmitt Bf109G-6 by Design Team Daedalus Unit: W.Nr.18107 7./JG53, Torazzo, Sicily, June 1943 Pilot: Uffz. Georg Amon A photo of this plane shows no drop tank but unit photos around this time show drop tanks were carried. The 7./JG53 was flying some long range missions at this time so it is logical it would have actually used a tank when needed. The .dp file reflects this. There is no "standard" Bf 109G-6, as the production run spanned 2 years, it underwent many modifications and updates along the way. So each model we have created has it's own unique features. Pstrany developed the models using Paul Rebuffat's Messerschmitt model - with permission - as a starting framework and updated the shape, and added a plethora of details, new parts, and ideas. Pstrany also developed the models for the drop tanks, weapons and racks. Captain Kurt created paints for each, the 2D instrument panel, the individual .dp files, the air files and the aircraft.cfg files. Mav SCASM edited each model so that they have animated wing slats, drop tanks, and other features, as well as optimizing models for the best possible framerates. Mav also developed the idea for the 2d panel to be offset for the Revi gunsight to match the CFS2 reticle. We have all benefited from the assistance and guidance of others in the community, Special thanks to Wolfi and Huub Vink for their kind assistance and to all who have contributed their knowledge directly and indirectly.
