FS2004 North American Aviation XF-108 "Rapier" The XF-108 was designed as a Mach 3 long range interceptor primarily to escort the XB-70 Valkyrie. It got as far as the mockup stage before the project was canceled. This model is based on the mockup configuration and has the usual FS9 animations, transparent canopies, and a specular color shine. The 2D panel and VC are based on a photo of the front panel of the mockup. The sound file is from a tape of a actual GE J-93 engine. It is lighter than the 707-based Boeing E-3 Sentry, and mounts a fixed, active electronically scanned array radar antenna instead of a rotating one. It was designed for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) under "Project Wedgetail" and designated E-7A Wedgetail. Model by the hugely talented TDS/ Tenkuu Developers Studio with advanced 737-800 VC added. Freeware model by Dee Waldron, freeware DC-9 panel by Enrique Medal (no VC), freeware DC-9 sound by Ali Zied. The textures are painstakingly painted right down to the details with accurate markings, window configurations, wings and engines. Mostly handpainted and features realistic dirt effects (after examining photos of the real bird). Day textures with realistic reflections are in quality and low size DXT3 format whit accurate alpha chanel. - It also includes some photorealistic misc, and internal parts textures (e.g. doors, 3D looking engine fans, engine intake, engine cowls, pylons and much more).
