FS2004 North American Aviation XF-108 "Rapier" The XF-108 was designed as a Mach 3 long range interceptor primarily to escort the XB-70 Valkyrie. It got as far as the mockup stage before the project was canceled. This model is based on the mockup configuration and has the usual FS9 animations, transparent canopies, and a specular color shine. The 2D panel and VC are based on a photo of the front panel of the mockup. The sound file is from a tape of a actual GE J-93 engine. The textures are painstakingly painted right down to the details with accurate markings, window configurations, wings and engines. Mostly handpainted and features realistic dirt effects (after examining photos of the real bird). Day textures with realistic reflections are in quality and low size DXT3 format whit accurate alpha chanel. - It also includes some photorealistic misc, and internal parts textures (e.g. doors, 3D looking engine fans, engine intake, engine cowls, pylons and much more). The first pre-series 'Yankee' flew in July 1968. These aircraft served with 101° Gruppo/8° Stormo (Cervia-S.Giorgio) from 1970, and later, from 1974, they served with the 13° Gruppo/32° Stormo (Brindisi), until the early '90s.
