Designed to Air Ministry Specification 2/44 the Brabazon was, at the time of it's construction, one of the largest aircraft ever built, being sized roughly between the much later Airbus A300 and Boeing 767 airliners. Despite its vast size, the Brabazon was designed to carry a total of only 100 passengers, each one being allocated their own spacious area about the size of the entire interior of a small car. Designed to pre-war airline standards, the 8 Centarus-powered Brabazon was probably at the practical limit for a piston prop-liner, and was deemed un-economic in the post-war climate, with no orders forthcoming. Often considered a failure, the Type 167 more than met it's design specs, was a pleasant, well mannered machine that pioneered fully powered flight controls, gust alleviation systems, electric engine controls, high-pressure hydraulics and advanced construction techniques. 60% of the program cost went into capital improvements at Filton and elsewhere that served the British industry well in the jet-age. The final verdict must be that the aircraft was a completely successful prototype showing what to do, and what not to do. FSX native update of the JBK Brabazon, which features a full interior, a very nice front office you could park a Rolls-Royce in, tight modelling, smooth flight model, a great autopilot and slippery frame rates. Currently (April 2017) Egyptair operate 22 Boeing 737-800 with orders for a further 2. Model by TDS/ Tenkuu Developers Studio with advanced 737-800 VC added. Includes utility for ground services, Passenger bus, cargo, stairs, refuelling truck etc (find it under - Views - Instrument panel - Util) The wonderful Boeing 737-800 from TDS will be enjoyed by many more people who do not know how to install a VC into a FSX native model. The VC is the Alejandro Rojas Lucena/FSND fantastic revised Boeing 737-800 VC model. This VC model includes Working wipers (right mouse click on switch) with rain effect. Switches for LCD Screens, EICAS, PFD, MFT. Autobrake switch. Opening pilots window. Cabin Lights switch. Realistic FMC. Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS), More Realistic night VC textures. There are custom Boeing 737 sounds included for that extra realism. I have added the great textures by Triadi Sudarmawan. Correct view points for VC and jetway exits. Model is not modified in any way. VC added and aircraft.cfg edited to allow correct VC views and jetways. TDS wonderful native FSX Boeing 737-800 model. Tachikawa Ki-36 type98 (Ida), Japanese WW2 trainer and reconnaissance aircraft, originally made for CFS2 by Thicko, now flyable in FSX with acceptable VC. Thanks again Thicko for your great work! Unfortunately the opening and closing of the reargunner’s cockpit and him getting in position doesn’t work in my version of FSX Acceleration, though I have made settings for the Concorde’s nose visor extend and retract control keys. In FS9 it works fine. If anybody knows a solution for it I would be happy to know. The aircraft is flying very well in my versions of FSX-Acceleration and FS9, but is not tested by me in SP1 or SP2.
