Republic's immense and powerful P-47 Thunderbolt was one of the truly great fighters of World War II, built in greater numbers than any other U.S. fighter. In combat, the P-47 was an effective air-to-air fighter, but it was an even more effective air-to-ground weapon. It had great diving speed and a tremendous payload capacity. The Yakovlev Yak-1 was a World War II Soviet fighter aircraft. Production began in early 1940. It was a single-seat monoplane with a composite structure and wooden wings.
The Yak-1 was extremely manoeuvrable, fast and well armed, and, just as importantly, it was easy to maintain and reliable. It formed an excellent basis for subsequent developments from the Yakovlev bureau. In fact it was the founder of a family of aircraft, with some 37,000 being built. In 1943, Yakovlev designed the Yak-1M which was a lighter version of the Yak-1.Tested in FS2004/FSX/FSXacceleration. GMAX mdl by A.F.Scrub.

Among VIP operators allocated personal Messengers were Field Marshal Sir Bernard Montgomery and Marshal of the RAF Lord Tedder. 21 were built for military use - many were converted to MK4As post-war for civilian use. In its role as a VIP transport the 36 ft 2 in span Messenger had a maximum speed of 116 mph and range of 260 miles.
Note - most early aircraft had these rectangular windows but see 'Versions-notes'. Will also work OK in FSX.

North American AJ-1 Savage.
FSDS2 Model, air file, Aircaft.config, Panel, Textures. and Object_dp,
by Jim Jacobson: Released as freeware-January 2004. The AJ1 Savage
was a stop gap bomber used as a naval nuclear naval deterant between
WWII and the arival of full jet bombers. It was part prop and part
jet with twin radials on the wings and a allison turbo in tail. It
never saw combat but was on ready alert and carried the MK15-Mk39
series of gravity nuclear bombs from the decks of US Carriers. After
the arrival of Full Jet bombers the AJ Savage series was refitted
for naval Tanker duty. The AJ Savage was decomishioned and saw its
last action as civilian Fire bombers. FSDS2 Model, air file, Aircaft.config,

Blackburn B.26 Botha.
The Botha was a British Reconaissance/Torpedo Plane that entered servive
in May 1940. Severely underpowered, the Botha proved unsuitable for
its designed role and therefore only has a 5 month operational career.
It survived as a trainer until 1944. The Botha is often listed as
one of the worst aircraft of all time. Credits: The model, dp and
